Historia
Ma Taffy may be blind, but she sees everything. So when her great-nephew, Kaia, comes home from school in tears, what she senses sends a deep fear through her. While they wait for Kaia's mama to come home from work, Ma Taffy recalls the story of the flying preacherman and a great thing that did not happen. A poor suburban sprawl in the Jamaican heartland, Augustown is a place where many things that should happen don't, and plenty of things that shouldn't happen do.

I'm not big on reviews, but this story and the performance combined are exquisite and wonderful. You feel the heat of midday and the cool of the breeze in the Jamaican evening on your skin while listening. Imagine yourself there, surrounded by people living their lives and telling you their stories. A great book and an amazing experience.

Historia
Language defines us as a species, placing humans head and shoulders above even the most proficient animal communicators. But it also beguiles us with its endless mysteries, allowing us to ponder why different languages emerged, why there isn't simply a single language, how languages change over time and whether that's good or bad, and how languages die out and become extinct.

If you are a language-head of any kind you should definitely have a go at this course!! The history of languages is fascinating. I've noticed just one mistake in one lecture ( and that is because I'm Russian) so overall it's a great course about linguistics. Also the lecturer is funny)
