Historia
At a Texas county fair, children’s book author Elle Portman is enjoying a rare night out with her favorite cowboy: her two-year-old son, Charlie. But just as they’re about to head home, the unthinkable happens: a shooter opens fire into the crowd, causing widespread panic to erupt all around them. Also caught in the melee is corporate consultant Calder Hudson. When he wakes up in the hospital, he's told he's lucky. Others didn't fare we well, which instills in Calder a furious determination to get justice.

Great Story - Not a Narrator on Fan
Revisado: 08-21-23
Another winning story By Sandra Brown which deals with a very difficult subject. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, their weaknesses and strengths.
The narration was hard to differentiate one character from another. One character sounded like she was a 70 year old 3 pack a day smoker, when she was really much younger.
Kyf Brewer is a usually pretty good narrator but this book wasn’t for him especially since many characters are female. His voice is just too deep to convincingly portray women.

Historia
It’s spring and Three Pines is reemerging after the harsh winter. But not everything buried should come alive again. Not everything lying dormant should reemerge. But something has. As the villagers prepare for a special celebration, Armand Gamache and Jean-Guy Beauvoir find themselves increasingly worried. A young man and woman have reappeared in the Sûreté du Québec investigators’ lives after many years. The two were young children when their troubled mother was murdered, leaving them damaged, shattered. Now they’ve arrived in the village of Three Pines. But to what end?

Great story…Annoying Author Lectures
Revisado: 12-28-22
This was one of my favorite storylines yet. New characters and lots of plot twists.
The only thing that bugged me is the subtle and not so subtle messages about guns. The author really has little knowledge about guns, gun ownership, etc. As a woman, I own several pistols, have had extensive training (as all responsible owners should) and carry often. It’s saved me from being a victim twice in my life. It’s a great equalizer for women.
The other annoyance is discussing women’s rights as though women are victims of a system. I thoroughly reject that premise. Strong, independent women are not victims.

Historia
New York, 2061: The place called the Pleasure Academy is a living nightmare where abducted girls are trapped, trained for a life of abject service while their souls are slowly but surely destroyed. Dorian, a thirteen-year-old runaway who’d been imprisoned there, might never have made it out if not for her fellow inmate Mina, who’d hatched the escape plan. Mina was the more daring of the two—but they’d been equally desperate.

Another good one
Revisado: 12-09-22
JD Robb comes through again. I missed Somerset throughout this one but I’m glad he appeared at the end. Good story line, good plot.
Also, much less of the same old sex scenes in this one which was great and I didn’t need to fast forward.

WORST. NARRATOR. EVER.
Revisado: 12-02-22
A Jack Mars storyline is always great and imaginative. However, this was one of the most difficult books I’ve listened to and I have over 1800 books in my library.
The narrator is mostly monotone and can’t narrate conversations between characters to save his life. It’s so stilted and cringy.
I’m not sure I can even get all the way through this one without returning it and buying a print version. Even with a vast library collection, I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve had to return a book for horrendously bad narration.

Love the Lettie Change
Revisado: 07-27-22
I often find that books with spinoff characters aren’t as good as the originals. However, that is NOT the case with Sanford’s new series.
Loved Lettie spreading her wings using lessons taught by her dad, Lucas Davenport.

Good new characters but…
Revisado: 07-19-22
I’ve listened to and loved all Mark Greaney books so I was excited for Armored to come out. The narrator wasn’t impactful and overly dramatic at times and he didn’t make the book an interesting listen.
Maybe it was the narrator or the story or maybe a mixture but Armored isn’t exactly a thrill ride and I got bored a lot and zoned out.
The new characters are great maybe the next one will be a little more exciting like Gray Man books.

Historia
When the body of a man is found in the dense forest surrounding Black Rock Falls, Sheriff Jenna Alton immediately sees disturbing similarities with a past case - the same murder weapon, the remote beauty spot, and the way the victim is perched against a tree with no sign of a struggle. But the killer in that case was jailed for life.

I remember why I stopped listening to this series
Revisado: 07-10-22
With over 1800 books in my audible library, I’ve heard quite a few narrators and there are 4 that I will never ever listen to again.
The story, characters and plot lines of this book are fantastic.
I stopped listening to this series because of the narrator. Her tone for conversation between people in Montana is a cross between a jaw locked socialite and a valley girl. She gives every character this same inflection when speaking. She elongates one syllable words into syllables. I found it really annoying. As an example, it’s not weeeeellllllll-ah or hoooooome-ah. I know she can do it properly because when it’s straight narration and no conversation it’s mostly normal.
My advice is to read this series rather than listening.

Not a short story fan BUT…
Revisado: 03-09-22
I never download short stories and didn’t realize at first these were 3 short stories. The stories by all three authors were great, the characters well done and I was drawn into each story.
The narrator was my least favorite part. At times, she sounded like a grandmother with a shaky voice telling a story, her voice didn’t fit with the age of the characters and there wasn’t a very big voice range changing between characters.

Historia
The country is reeling. For the sixth time in American history, the winner of the popular vote will not occupy the Oval Office. President Malcolm MacLeod, the Machiavellian incumbent, was spared from impeachment only because his political foes were certain they would oust him at the ballot box. Now, he appears to have secured a second term, thanks to a narrow victory in the Electoral College.

Good storyline but...
Revisado: 03-17-20
Jonathan Davis was fantastic as always. The storyline thriller/mystery was great as usual. That being said, i have grown weary of authors basing characters on President Trump and mocking him and using ridiculous characteristics to portray the President. If you support the President then this book will irritate you to no end. If you still harbor hate for the president and believe all the crap from the main stream media then you will love this book.
I have many of Grippando’s titles in my library but going forward, I will be more cautious before purchasing more.

Nate doesn’t want to listen. He’s between missions and just wants to relax, not to travel hundreds of miles and hunt for the driver of the car that hit someone he doesn’t even know. But ignoring the call is not an option. What Nate had hoped would be a simple mission turns into something much more sinister, when he discovers a wide-reaching evil, festering in a small Northern California town. To confront it, he will need all the skills he’s learned working in the shadow world.

Love Brett Battles BUT...
Revisado: 05-05-19
I’ve loved all of Brett Battles books but I am only 4 minutes into this book and have to stop. At first I checked to see if narration speed was lower than 1.0 (nope). The narrator’s voice and tone is slow and depressing. I’m returning this for a refund. I can’t imagine listening to 8 hours of this torment.
