Historia
It was an unprovoked attack, a deliberate act of aggression. When Vice Admiral Mike Brannon of the US Navy received word that the wreck of the Sharkfin had been found, with a gaping hole in its stern, he could only conclude that the Soviets had, without warning, attacked and destroyed a US nuclear submarine. He could not let the incident pass without retaliation. Yet whatever steps he took, he risked leading the two superpowers into a state of war.

Historia
She was a monster, sleek and gleaming, designed to strike without warning like the dreaded shark. She was the USS Mako, as fearless and bold as any submarine that ever prowled the blue Pacific. Her mission: seek out and destroy the hitherto invincible ships of the Japanese Imperial Navy - and revenge the earlier defeats of a long and dirty war. Here is the story of the men who pitted their lives against impossible odds in the most dangerous branch of the American armed services.

narrator is bad
Revisado: 10-20-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I have only listened to the first 3 stories. I had hoped that each story would have a different narrator. But NO....
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Cathy Dobson?
Don't know
Could you see The Great American Short Story Collection being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

R.I.P. Reacher
Revisado: 03-02-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Lee Child killed Reacher…for me , at least.
I’ve read or heard all the Reacher books and always pictured him as a 6’5” strong, quiet guy.(like Jim Caviezel)
This is the first Reacher story after the “movie”, and now I see Reacher as a 5’7” wimp hopping on someone’s couch.
Goodbye, Reacher, R.I.P.

what a disappointment
Revisado: 09-05-12
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
As a 20 year submariner, this really was a bummer. someone with no knowledge of subs might enjoy it
Would you ever listen to anything by Don Brown again?
no
How did the narrator detract from the book?
just wrong accent
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Black Sea Affair?
all scenes aboard the Sub. The writer knows nothing about subs. We don't use the term :Torp:. No C.O would ever refer to the Chief of the Boat as "Mister". Everything aboutv the sub was wrong.
