I liked the narrator and narration - sometimes sound effects did not match narration, which was disconcerting.

I had forgotten how much philosophizing and social criticizing there is in this classic -- and not in a subtle way. Great job voicing all the characters, especially Since, Jim, and Capt Flint.

Historia
Witness the "works and wonders" of the ancient world through the eyes of its first great historian in this sparkling series of 24 lectures from a much-honored teacher and classical scholar.Herodotus (c. 484-420 B.C.E.) was a Greek who was born in what is now the modern Turkish resort town of Bodrum and who died, so tradition says, in the south of Italy. In between, his tirelessly inquiring mind took him from one corner of the known world to another.

Greek tragedy was a dramatic form that flourished for less than a full century. And yet it remains vibrant, alive, and productive today. And the form's masterpieces help us-as perhaps they helped their original audiences-grasp a fuller sense of the terror and wonder of life. Professor Vandiver has designed these 24 rich and rewarding lectures to give you a full overview of Greek tragedy, both in its original setting and as a lasting contribution to the artistic exploration of the human condition.

A good story told from two perspectives a generation apart. Many twists, turns, reversals, and rewards for the reader/listener.
The ending was a bit sudden, but satisfying.
Teaches a lot about recent Chinese history, ethnic minorities, and tea!

I enjoyed all aspects of the story, from the embedded physics ideas to the highly politicized history of Chinese scientific research in the 1960s and 70s!

Historia
Here is the story of Klara, an Artificial Friend with outstanding observational qualities, who, from her place in the store, watches carefully the behavior of those who come in to browse, and of those who pass on the street outside. She remains hopeful that a customer will soon choose her. Klara and the Sun is a thrilling book that offers a look at our changing world through the eyes of an unforgettable narrator, and one that explores the fundamental question: What does it mean to love?

fascinating premise with some tedious parts
Revisado: 08-29-21
I loved the first 2/3 of this book, as Klara learned about the world and the people in it and developed a spiritual dimension, but then it seemed to fade into a series of interminable conversations and ruminations. I began to feel as if the author was showing us the futility of language. Language can only approximate experience and understanding; in the end, Klara's experience remains uniquely her own, which makes her as human (and essentially alone) as any one of us.

A new perspective on contemporary Native Americans

The characters were engaging, and their interactions with non-natives had me alternately cringing and checking my privilege. I know some high school students are reading it in school, and I'm glad.

Historia
In the rigid theocracy of Salem, Massachusetts, rumors that women are practicing witchcraft galvanize the town. In a searing portrait of a community engulfed by panic—with ruthless prosecutors, and neighbors eager to testify against neighbor—The Crucible famously mirrors the anti-Communist hysteria that held the United States in its grip in the 1950’s.

Interesting but overlong
Revisado: 09-24-20
It took a while for the story to get going, and then it changed direction. Some of the twists were predictable; the better ones were not.
I came away from this experience wondering if it was simultaneously too long for a short story and too short for a novel.
The premise was intriguing... I'm not sure if my disappointment was due to a translation issue or faults in the story itself.
