Historia
Torn between the stirring example of his mother and the lurid romance of the bar, J.R. tried to forge a self somewhere in the center. But when it was time for J.R. to leave home, the bar became an increasingly seductive sanctuary, a place to return and regroup during his picaresque journeys. Time and again, the bar offered shelter from failure, rejection, heartbreak, and eventually from reality.

Why abridged?
Revisado: 04-03-16
The book is good, the abridged version is not. The story has the potential for so many characters and their stories are truncated.

Historia
Captain Ahab was neither my first husband nor my last. This is destined to be remembered as one of the most-recognized first sentences in literature - along with "Call me Ishmael." And Una Spenser, the transcendent hero at the center of Ahab's Wife may well become every bit as memorable as Ahab. Inspired by a brief passage in Moby Dick, Sena Jeter Naslund has created an entirely new universe - an epic-scale, enthralling, and compelling saga, spanning a full, rich, eventful, and dramatic life. In the "soprano voice" whose absence critics lamented in Moby Dick - the strong, intelligent voice of a woman whose life is dominated by the sea - Naslund tells many stories.

The abridged version is too choppy and confusing
Revisado: 06-25-14
Would you try another book from Sena Jeter Naslund and/or Maryann Plunkett?
I love Sena Jeter Naslund but the abridged version was so awful and choppy that it did not tell the story well.
What could Sena Jeter Naslund have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Sena Jeter Naslund wrote an amazing book it is the audio recording that is horrible.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Maryann Plunkett?
Sure, if she would read the book
What character would you cut from Ahab's Wife?

Historia
The Austrian economist Ludwig von Mises is increasingly recognized as one of the most important originators of modern economic thought. This book studies his ideas in a clear and systematic way and pulls out from Mises's own writings the main themes of his work. Mises's central theme is an emphasis on microeconomics. All real economic decisions, he insists, are taken by particular people at particular times and places; the motivating forces, therefore, are personal and psychological.

A statistics book that does not use statistics!!
Revisado: 08-22-12
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If the author did not use rhetoric to write a book about statistics and used statistics to write a book about statistics. The book makes generalizations about how different classes of people react to situations and then magically create a causality. Use statistics.
Would you ever listen to anything by Eamonn Butler again?
No.
Which character – as performed by Jeff Riggenbach – was your favorite?
Much was fictional but no characters.
What character would you cut from Ludwig Von Mises?
All of it!!!
