Historia
Growing up on the Navajo Indian Reservation, David Crow and his siblings idolized their dad. Tall, strong, smart, and brave, the self-taught Cherokee regaled his family with stories of his World War II feats. But as time passed, David discovered the other side of Thurston Crow, the ex-con with his own code of ethics that justified cruelty, violence, lies - even murder. A shrewd con artist with a genius IQ, Thurston intimidated David with beatings to coerce him into doing his criminal bidding. David's mom, too mentally ill to care for her children, couldn't protect him.

Heartbreaking, shocking, and funny
Revisado: 06-16-22
For all the terrible, sad, and shocking events that happened, there were parts that I literally laughed out loud. Really enjoyed this book, narration was great along with the story of the authors life and relationship with his father.

Historia
In this powerful true crime memoir, an award-winning identity theft expert tells the shocking story of the duplicity and betrayal that inspired her career and nearly destroyed her family. Axton Betz-Hamilton grew up in small-town Indiana in the early '90s. When she was 11 years old, her parents both had their identities stolen. Their credit ratings were ruined, and they were constantly fighting over money. This was before the age of the Internet, when identity theft became more commonplace, so authorities and banks were clueless and reluctant to help Axton's parents.

Shocking! Wow…
Revisado: 06-16-22
I literally shook my head while listening to this book. The mother was basically a total stranger to her daughter. I cant imagine what Axton has been through. Very well written, engaging narration. If you liked Glass Castle, Pale Faced Lie, and American Daughter this will fit right in.

Great book! Unexpected twists
Revisado: 06-16-22
Had previously listened to Life We Bury, so gave some familiarity to main character. Good narration, was able to keep my attention. Couldn’t wait to find out what happens. Twists/surprises till the very end. I’m liking this author, will check out more books by Eskens.

Revisado: 04-12-22
I didnt make it too far into this one, just too much child abuse. I understand it’s apart of her story and it’s flat out what happened, I just couldnt listen any longer. Sorry. So so sad those terrible things happened to that poor child.

Another great crazy childhood bio
Revisado: 04-12-22
If you liked Glass Castle and Educated you’ll like this one too. I’m always so fascinated by these types of biographies. I thought this book was going to be exactly like Glass Castle, in a way it is, but also so much different. I’m so glad I stumbled upon this book (I needed a break from my typical psychological thriller).

Boring, pretty disappointed
Revisado: 03-29-22
Not sure how this is considered a thriller, it’s pretty boring in my opinion and a lot of details are left out. It skips ahead clumsily, leaves you wondering how it got to the next plot. I couldnt stand listening to Dolly Parton narrate any longer. She may be a good singer, but hard to listen to. It is a do not finish for me. With 4 hours left I didn’t see it getting better or more exciting.

So-So
Revisado: 11-12-21
Isn’t my favorite JG book. It could have been the narrator. It’s not so much the sound of her voice but it was hard to tell at times what character she was trying to deliver. I’ve heard far worse narrators, there wasn’t much variation to her voice. Story line was good; but personally think he has better books.

I’m not at all a sports fan but decided to get this book because of the good reviews. It’s super interesting- I had no idea how much Nike struggled in the beginning. The relationship he had with Japan was really interesting as well. Highly recommend this book EVEN if you are not a sports fan.

Brings me back
Revisado: 09-18-20
It’s like watching a classic movie from my childhood. Part of me wishes Robert Pattinson narrated it. Also solidifies how horrible Kristen Stewart was for the part of Bella.... haha. Good book overall. It’s worth the time especially if you were a Twilight lover many years ago!
