Historia
Breaking my engagement to the man I had loved my entire life was a dangerous move, one that got me expelled from the faerie isle. I’d known the risks, though. I’d known that if Cruz, Cat, or my brother didn’t find a way to get me home, the fire in my veins would dwindle until it was gone, and with it my life. With mere weeks left to live, I set out on a last adventure: Discover if more Daneelies had survived the massacre, the same way Catori’s ancestor had. Although I’d decided to go alone, Kajika insisted on accompanying me.

My favorite so far
Revisado: 01-11-23
This is my favorite of the Lost Clan series. Lily and Kajika are such great characters and really captured my heart. I’ll always love Ace and Cat, but in this book everything tied together so wonderfully.

Beware the male narrator
Revisado: 01-02-23
I wish I’d read this book myself first. The male narrator is so hard to listen to that it ruins the story. I’d find myself thinking more about how awful his performance was (just too over the top, almost pervy) instead of the story so I had to re-listen to so many parts. My enjoyment of the book suffered because of it. The female narrator did a great job and I hated when it switched.
The story itself was okay. Not the author’s best but that could have been due to my inability to really get lost in the world.

Historia
Salem is the light-bringer, gorgeous as sin and just as evil. Some call him Lucifer. What do I call him? Whatever he tells me to, because he's cast a mind-control spell over me. He hates me, but I have a plan. I'll lead him to a sorcerer who can kill him. But as I journey with the fallen god, I see him watching me, wanting me. And it's mutual. Turns out fate has a sick sense of humor because my destiny ties me to Salem. Still, I have to stop him before he gets what he wants. Because if I fail, he will unleash hell on earth.

Just kinda boring
Revisado: 10-31-22
I had to force myself to finish this book. Maybe I’m just in a book funk, maybe my expectations are just too high because others rave about the series, but I struggled to connect to the characters. I find the main characters all unlikable and they do nothing to redeem themselves. I get that’s part of the world building but I can’t cheer for characters who are selfish and self centered and constantly hurt each other. The whole Fae community in these books seems pretty awful. The men are constantly using Aenor and gaslighting her. In this book in particular, her lover decides to take away her newly returned powers because he believes a prophecy over what he knows/has experienced of her and gets upset that she doesn’t docilely obey with his plan. Fight scenes fail to grab me, the switch between love interests was canned and unbelievable, the action falls flat and seems anticlimactic. Overall, for me, it’s a bland story.
The narrator does an okay job. She did give Salem his own distinct accent in this book (in the previous narration she just did a British accent for him) but she doesn’t pronounce Salem the same every time. It really takes you out of the story. Her cadence is off for me, almost too plodding. It made the story more of a slog.

Everything I know is a lie. I'm an ordinary mortal girl. Lord Irrik is a depraved dragon shifter. King Irdelron is an immortal tyrant. In the disease ridden land of Verald, life is mapped out much like the established rings of our kingdom. Everyone has a role. Me? I'll be uselessly serving potato stew for the rest of my life because I can't make anything grow. But starvation brews rebellion. When the king strikes, I'm captured by Lord Irrik. Instantly, I'm embroiled in a deadly game. One where I'm desperate to understand the rules.

Some audio errors
Revisado: 08-25-22
It’s overall a great book. I like the story, though it is torture heavy and the main character makes some…stupid, ill thought out decisions. That did get tiresome. The narrator is good but there is weird editing in the book. Skipped lines, repeat lines and in one instance audio recorded over other audio.

Everything Poppy has ever believed in is a lie, including the man she was falling in love with. Thrust among those who see her as a symbol of a monstrous kingdom, she barely knows who she is without the veil of the Maiden. But what she does know is that nothing is as dangerous to her as him. The Dark One. The Prince of Atlantia. He wants her to fight him, and that’s one order she’s more than happy to obey. He may have taken her, but he will never have her.

Oh, so good!
Revisado: 03-03-22
This is one of my all time favorite books. The whole series, so far, is just amazing. The story telling is rich and complex and the characters are compelling. I’ve read and re-read and listened and re-listened to it many times. The narrator’s performance is wonderful, bringing depth to each character. A not to be missed book all around.

Historia
There were three things I was certain about. First, I would never kill another person. But when a family friend murdered someone I loved, I destroyed her with a power I didn't even know I possessed. Second, I would never strike another bargain. But faeries could bring the dead back, so when Cruz offered to revive my father, I accepted. Third, I would never marry an enemy, but every bargain comes at a price. The price of mine: I had to marry Cruz and move to the faerie isle. For the first time in my life, I wondered if death wouldn't be a kinder end.

This series has been a wild ride! This book in particular had so many twists and turns and there were times I genuinely didn’t know who Cat could trust. I loved Cat and Ace and am happy they got their happy ending.

Historia
The Vampire Diaries with faeries. Welcome to Rowan.... I wasn’t the sort of girl who believed in fairytales, let alone tales about faeries. But that changed the day Faeries came to my small town and Hunters rose from their graves. On that fateful day, I received a book, a peculiar collection of myths and legends. Turns out it was so much more than stories. And just as I was on the verge of unlocking its secrets, it was stolen from me by someone I called a friend. Now, I don’t know whom I can turn to, whom I can trust.

Revisado: 11-05-21
The second book in the Lost Clan series, I felt this book really got the story going. I liked the first book but this book really hit it out of the park. The narrator is good at the different voices and overall it’s a enjoyable performance. Can’t wait to see what happens next in the story!

Historia
Founded two centuries ago by a powerful tribe of Gottwa Indians, Rowan was a quiet town, so quiet that I fled after graduation. Staying away was the plan, but Mom died suddenly. Dad said she suffered a stroke after she dug up one of the ancient graves in our backyard, which happens to be the town cemetery. Creepy, I know. Creepier still, there was no corpse inside the old coffin, only fresh rose petals. As we made preparations for Mom's burial, new people began arriving in Rowan, unnervingly handsome and odd people.

Great start to a trilogy
Revisado: 10-15-21
I really enjoyed this book. I have wanted to read it for awhile and I had the opportunity to get the audio book and jumped at it.
Cat’s story is just starting in this book. It’s a bittersweet book, with love and loss. I was heartbroken listening at times but also given hope. The writing is brilliantly done. I look forward to the rest of the trilogy and seeing how Cat’s story unfolds, especially as she wars with the two sides of herself.
The narrator is good at both male and female voices and for the most part I do get lost in the performance. There is is just something about how she reads that sits funny on my ears but once I lose myself to the story I don’t tend to notice. Overall, she performs well and her voice fits who I imagine Cat to be.

It was supposed to be a quick mission. The only thing quick about it was how rapidly I failed. With only a month left to earn her missing feathers, 19-year-old Leigh embarks on a trip to Paris to meet her newest project, 25-year-old Jarod Adler, leader of the Parisian Mafia and the worst kind of sinner...a Triple. If Leigh can get Jarod to accomplish a single act of kindness, she stands to win 100 feathers, more than enough to complete her wings and ascend to Elysium, the land of angels.

Perfect
Revisado: 09-27-21
This book has stuck with me since I first read it. It’s haunting, a perfect re-imagining of Romeo and Juliet. I got it on Audible to listen during the holidays and am re-listening again on vacation. It’s so beautiful. The narration is okay. Holly Fielding isn’t my favorite narrator. She does decent men’s voices but she’s a very deliberate speaker and it doesn’t sit well on my ears when she reads. It comes across as staccato and slow. Regardless, I fell into the story and would highly recommend it.
