Historia
The radio dramatisation of The Hobbit became a classic when it was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in 1968 and it continues to delight today. Tolkien's famous saga, the prelude to the Lord of the Rings, has all the ingredients of fantasy and adventure: dwarves, elves, goblins and trolls, a fearsome dragon, a great wizard, a perilous quest, and a dramatic climax.

Hobbit condensed, but not without charm

This is my comfort audio book, when I’ve had a rough day and want a cozy story with a little ambience, but don’t have the mental capacity for the full version hobbit or LOTR.
It’s cute and fun, I would definitely recommend

Maybe too hyped up
Revisado: 01-31-23
Minimal pay off.
It was ok, I didn’t find myself particularly surprised or excited at any part of this book. There wasn’t enough description to give you a real sense of ambiance, or enough character development to really make you care if the characters lived or not.
I didn’t HATE it, but there was nothing particularly special in it for me.

In many ways, we’re more comfortable than ever before. But could our sheltered, temperature-controlled, overfed, underchallenged lives actually be the leading cause of many our most urgent physical and mental health issues? In this gripping investigation, award-winning journalist Michael Easter seeks out off-the-grid visionaries, disruptive genius researchers, and mind-body conditioning trailblazers who are unlocking the life-enhancing secrets of a counterintuitive solution: discomfort.

I’d hoped to read more of his insight and not just a retelling of his trip.
If you don’t really care to hear people talking about their vacations, you won’t really care about this book.

Historia
Scott Adams was one of the earliest public figures to predict Donald Trump’s election. The mainstream media regarded Trump as a lucky clown, but Adams - best known as “the guy who created Dilbert” - recognized a level of persuasion you only see once in a generation. We’re hardwired to respond to emotion, not reason, and Trump knew exactly which emotional buttons to push. The point isn’t whether Trump was right or wrong, good or bad. Adams goes beyond politics to look at persuasion tools that can work in any setting - the same ones Adams saw in Steve Jobs.

Trump might be a master persuader, Adams most definitely is not
Revisado: 08-05-20
For a book aiming to dig out cognitive biases, Adams seems completely oblivious to his own — particularly confirmation bias, which he tries to address repeatedly throughout the book without self reflection.
I really wanted to like this book, some parts had a lot of potential and the premise is quite interesting, but it reads more as a justification piece than it is an assessment of technique. Parts we’re truly cringeworthy.
Don’t hold out for the big finale at the end. There is none.

How do you feel about setting goals? I’ve heard people say they feel energized, depressed, confused, terrified, pumped, ambivalent, lost...or all of the above. Here’s what I’ve realized: Our relationship to success is inside-out. When we make our New Year’s resolutions, bucket lists, big plans, or weekly to-dos, we’re hoping that when we "arrive" we’ll be fulfilled. Our hearts will swell as we cross the finish line, and then we can finally relax and savor our happiness. Except more often than not, that doesn’t happen....

10/10 would recommend.
Revisado: 11-07-19
One of the BEST goal setting books I've ever read. It is as practical as it is uplifting. Normally, these kind of "law of attraction"y, spiritual, "be positive" type approaches are not my style, but the desire map is really what you make of it. The emotion of it is totally up to you, and thats the beauty of it.
I first read this book several years ago, and return to it twice a year or more to update my goals. I've recommended this to countless people over the years, from work colleagues to friends to random strangers online. I love it. I hope you will too.

I'm a huge fan of most of the BBC Radio dramatizations, and this one is no exception -- cute narration, and as delightful as reading the series itself.

Great Narration, needlessly convoluted writing

While I liked this somewhat and thought the narration was fantastic, it reminded me a bit of my time as a university TA correcting end of year research papers. It felt like the authors were trying to hit a word requirement.

The best stories pull readers in and keep them turning the pages, eager to discover more—to find the answer to the question: "And then what happened?" The true hallmark of great literature is great imagination, and as Neil Gaiman and Al Sarrantonio prove with this outstanding collection, when it comes to great fiction, all genres are equal.

Too focused on rape/murder/etc
Revisado: 10-19-19
These stories are much, much darker than I expected, so much so that Gaiman’s contribution was actually one of the lightest in the bunch.
I wanted slightly spooky, otherworldly, magical stories (and there are some here), but for the most part, these stories are less fantasy, and more fever dream.
Don’t get me wrong, the stories are well written. Just leaning a bit too hard on horror for my liking.
