The Merry Band of Pirates stopped the enemy from stealing a Sentinel, and destroyed its Elder starship, so why weren’t the Pirates planning a victory party? The enemy was not what they thought it was. It was much, much worse.

Always Fun
Revisado: 09-20-24
This series is always fun and Brays performance is maybe his best. The setup is somewhat the same in most stories but Skippy and Joes banter is always entertaining and the action is always intense! And that’s what it is, a great action comedy that doesn’t take itself to serious!

Great Series. Weakest Entry?
Revisado: 09-25-18
So, you’ll want to check out book 3.5 first. Good book, great series. But the characters and story parts centered around the remaining people on Paradise seems fillery, kinda like the casino bit in Last Jedi, I mean there’s sorta a need for it not really, but the characters aren’t as entertaining as the Merry Band of Pirates and there is way to much of them.
Updating my review after some time to think. This book doesn’t really go anywhere. The only real thing of plot significance is that Skippy learns the dead AI was responsible for wrecking an entire planet. And that’s like 1 page worth of
Info. Other than that, it’s just a fetch quest to rescue forgettable characters from 3.5, with standard (but enjoyable) banter between Joe and Skippy.
I felt like the story around the 3.5 characters was really forced, overly long, It felt to contrived, Perkins just wasn’t as “organic” as Joe. You could skip that entire chunk of book and not be missing anything at all.

Great series!
Revisado: 08-16-18
A really fun sci-fi series. To me, it’s a lot like “Star Wars” but in OUR galaxy and fairly contemporary. With the “Jedi” being the mardoxian potential folks, and the “Sith” being the Xygen.

Meh
Revisado: 07-24-18
I wanted to like this, and there’s some good stuff. But overall it’s a just a huge reminder that academia is riddled with bad presuppositions. Hypotheses masquerading as facts that entire world views get built on. It’s a house of cards.
I’m fine with “some evidence” etc... But drinking on about “this then that then this” when it’s unproven or unprovable is not science, it’s religion.

This is excellent sci-fi. If you stick with it, it just gets better. The banter between Skippy and Joe is hilarious and the action is on point!

Historia
Arguing from Scripture and history, Dr. Boyd makes a compelling case that whenever the church gets too close to any political or national ideology, it is disastrous for the church and harmful to society. Dr. Boyd contends that the American Evangelical Church has allowed itself to be co-opted by the political right (and some by the political left), and exposes how this is harming the church's unique calling to build the kingdom of God.

Revisado: 02-05-17
This is an incredible thought provoking work. Anyone who calls themselves "Christian" should check this out.
Even if you ultimately disagree, this will challenge you to consider what you believe and why.
Deep down, I think most Christians when they really are forced to think about it know something isn't right. We misplace our ire on the outside world when the problems are largely because of our internal failures.
