Historia
‘I was born twice: first, as a baby girl, on a remarkably smogless Detroit day of January 1960; and then again, as a teenage boy, in an emergency room near Petoskey, Michigan, in August of 1974.' So begins the breathtaking story of Calliope Stephanides and her truly unique family secret, born on the slopes of Mount Olympus and passed on through three generations. Growing up in '70s Michigan, Calliope’s special inheritance will turn her into Cal, the narrator of this intersex, intergenerational epic of immigrant life in 20th-century America.

The narrator murdered this excellent piece of literature
Revisado: 02-21-25
The narrator is hopeless. His intonation and pauses are all wrong which destroyed the flow. But it’s not as bad as his pronunciation! Pronouncing Kamal as camel is one example but there’s hundreds more. Then when he tries to put on a Greek accent for dialogue that sounds like Yiddish - that just made a mockery of a brilliant book with a brilliant story that is exquisitely written. This guy is a literature murdereer
