Revisado: 07-16-24
Mandy Morton's No. 2 Feline Detective Agency stories are a great listen. I love how the mysteries are pieced together with a few feline puns. The only issue I have is feeling hungry after a listen with all the foods described. Now who do I have to meow at to get fed?

This is an absolutely incredible journey in the Best way!
Revisado: 03-27-24
I really love the world building in the story and the way the characters show they are growing and maturing as they age. I think the author has put a lot of thought into the dragons, their diversity by colour and their society outside of human interaction, it is really believable. The personalities of the characters is really well thought out and I like that in spite of circumstances they can surprise you. And of course even though this is a very dynamic adventure there is still the occasional giggle.
Luke Daniels does an admirable job voicing all characters and I like that his female voices are believable. He puts so much heart into the characters it is so easy to get lost in the story.
I can hardly wait for the next one!

Historia
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

This character is totally vile and un-sympathetic.
Revisado: 04-27-22
I'm sure the author is trying to present her character as a hard boiled heroine, but what kind of a horrible person calls the next door families' drama, her entertainment?
Alienating everyone she talks to and then tries to convince them to trust her? Isn't that a type of psychosis?
The narrator tried her best, I'm sure, but all her characterizations seemed to run together, and then it all sounded like whining.

Historia
When it comes to bread, Reena Manji knows exactly what she's doing. She treats her sourdough starters like (somewhat unruly) children. But when it comes to Reena's actual family - and their constant meddling in her life - well, that recipe always ends in disaster. Now Reena's parents have found her yet another potential Good Muslim Husband. This one has the body of Captain America, a delicious British accent, and lives right across the hall. He's the perfect, mouthwatering temptation...and completely ruined by the unwelcome side dish of parental interference.

I bought this book expecting it to be a fun summer read, but it turned out to be so much more. The characters are clever and engaging and the dialogue is sharp and poignant. Soneela Nankani does an excellent job reading multiple characters and giving each it's own personality.
This is an excellent read, but be ready for the insatiable need to bake bread.

Historia
I'm Charisma Carter, tech genius and nerd extraordinaire. I actually used to be Charisma Silverstorm, member of one of the six elite Arcane Families, until my family shunned me when I turned 18 because my magic wasn't strong enough. However, where I lack in magic I more than make up for with the tech I develop, if I do say so myself. Apparently I'm not the only one. From the minute I received my diploma as a magical engineer, it seems like my world has turned upside down. Now, members of all six families are competing to get me to work for them.

Revisado: 09-03-21
I know the f-bomb can be used diversely, but I've never heard it used so much outside a cell phone bill debate. It's quite distracting and really doesn't add to the story in any way.
The male narrator really didn't add much. His style seemed to be a verbal eye-roll or parent-who-has-something-better-to-do-than-read-you-a-book. He could have done a lot better.
Overall the story was not interesting enough to compete with the distractions.

All I wanted to do was go to a bar and drown my sorrows in some alcohol, but I had to get attacked by an incubus. Now, I'm being guarded by a hunky but oh-so-irritating vampire (who bit me, too) while the incubus stalks me. Being guarded by the sexy vampire probably wouldn't be that bad if not for the fact that my perfect boss has finally noticed me.

Revisado: 04-28-21
I thought this could be a pretty interesting story, but the heroine was awful. I get wanting to write a strong female lead, but this went past strong and into obstinate brat territory doing horrible things and calling for her man to save her. Plus she had so many poisonous ideas about the women around her it was almost painful to read all that insecurity.

For Meredith Gale, ending her life seems like her only choice, and that choice is the reason she’s dangling by her fingertips from a bridge high above the freezing water of the San Francisco Bay. But someone or some thing has other plans for Meredith, and as her fingers slip from the cold steel of the bridge, a disembodied voice asks her a simple question: “Candidate 13: Do you wish to be saved?” Realizing her mistake too late, Meredith screams “Yes!” and instantly finds herself transported to a mysterious island, alongside hundreds of other Candidates like her.

Best female character in a long time.
Revisado: 01-05-21
This book reminded me a lot of LOST, and is as compelling, but the main character is much more charming and multi faceted. I love the development of Meredith from helpless addict to Saviour of Humankind.
Kate Reading does an amazing job portraying so many different characters and accents. Every person was distinct and different from the other. A real joy to listen to.
This series is so worth the credit.

Richard Papen had never been to New England before his 19th year. Then he arrived at Hampeden College and quickly became seduced by the sweet, dark rhythms of campus life—in particular by an elite group of five students, Greek scholars, worldly, self-assured, and at first glance, highly unapproachable. Yet as Richard was accepted and drawn into their inner circle, he learned a terrifying secret that bound them to one another...a secret about an incident in the woods in the dead of night where an ancient rite was brough to brutal life...and lead to a gruesome death.

Revisado: 12-25-20
This story is horrible, often I considered just giving it up.
The narrator, (also the author,) is so awful I couldn't tell one character from another. Was there a Texan character? I'm not sure they all sounded like Texans. ...and I think there was a girl?
I think this was supposed to be a character study, but it's just a continuous droning complaint about a little boy who doesn't get to play with the "cool" kids. Really, don't waste a credit
