More than a book. It's like the nurturing inner voice I never had.

Kat John’s *Authentic* is a really good read if you’re trying to live a more real life. She’s super honest about her own struggles with things like chronic pain, addiction, and mental health. It’s like you’re having a chat with a friend who really gets it.
The book is full of practical tips and exercises that you can actually use. Kat’s writing is super relatable and down-to-earth, so it’s easy to follow along. Each chapter builds on the last one, so it all flows together nicely.
If you’re tired of living up to other people’s expectations and want to find your true self, this book is a great guide. It’s a reminder that being authentic is a journey, not a destination. Kat’s advice is simple but powerful, making *Authentic* a must-read for anyone looking to be more true to themselves.

Historia
Anthony Fauci is arguably the most famous–and most revered–doctor in the world today. His role guiding America sanely and calmly through Covid (and through the torrents of Trump) earned him the trust of millions during one of the most terrifying periods in modern American history, but this was only the most recent of the global epidemics in which Dr. Fauci played a major role. His crucial role in researching HIV and bringing AIDS into sympathetic public view and his leadership in navigating the Ebola, SARS, West Nile, and anthrax crises, make him truly an American hero.

Disappointingly One-Sided and Selective
Revisado: 08-18-24
I picked up "Anthony Fauci, M.D.: On Call - A Doctor's Journey in Public Service" expecting a comprehensive and balanced look at one of the most significant public health figures of our time. Unfortunately, what I found was a disappointingly one-sided narrative that felt more like a hagiography than a critical biography.
1. Overly Flattering Portrayal
The book’s portrayal of Dr. Fauci as an almost infallible figure is not only unrealistic but also does a disservice to readers looking for a more nuanced understanding. Take, for instance, the handling of COVID-19 guidance on masks. The book glosses over the initial contradictory advice, which caused significant public confusion. Instead of acknowledging the missteps and the resulting public mistrust, the narrative simply moves on, as if Fauci's decisions were always perfectly rational and justified. This selective storytelling leaves out the very real challenges and mistakes that were made, painting an overly rosy picture of his leadership
2. Omission of Controversial Moments:**
One of the most glaring issues is the book's omission of some key controversies in Fauci's career. For example, his role during the early HIV/AIDS crisis is treated with kid gloves. The book avoids delving into the criticisms that Fauci and the NIH were slow in responding to the crisis and overly conservative in their approval of treatments. This is a major oversight, as these events were pivotal in shaping public perception of Fauci and his approach to public health. By skipping over these criticisms, the book fails to provide a complete picture of the man it seeks to profile.
3. Simplistic View of Public Health Communication:
The book also takes a simplistic view of the public health communication challenges Fauci faced during the pandemic. It presents his messaging as consistently clear and authoritative, which is far from the truth. The reality was far more complicated, with evolving guidance that sometimes contradicted previous statements. This contributed to public skepticism and resistance, yet the book avoids a deep exploration of these communication failures. Instead, it simplifies the narrative to the point of being misleading.
4. Lack of Diverse Perspectives:**
What truly undermines the book’s credibility is the lack of diverse perspectives. It rarely, if ever, includes the voices of critics or alternative views from other public health experts. For instance, the book barely touches on the debates over lockdowns and school closures, where other experts advocated for different approaches. By not incorporating these opposing views, the book comes off as one-dimensional, offering little in the way of critical analysis.
5. Underplaying Political Context:
Finally, the book underplays the intense political pressures Fauci faced, particularly during the Trump administration. While it touches on the conflict between politics and science, it does so in a way that feels sanitized. The narrative doesn’t fully explore how these pressures may have influenced public health decisions or Fauci’s own public statements. This is a significant omission, as understanding the political context is crucial to evaluating Fauci’s actions during the pandemic.
Comclusion: Anthony Fauci, M.D.: On Call" had the potential to be a definitive account of a complex and influential figure, but it falls far short. By choosing to sidestep controversy, oversimplify challenges, and avoid diverse viewpoints, the book ultimately provides a skewed and incomplete portrait of Dr. Fauci. For readers seeking a critical and well-rounded biography, this book is a disappointing and frustrating read. At best this book is propaganda.
Bret Weinstein recently said in an interview the reason Fauci was the highest paid civil servant event with $350,000,000 in royalty payments from pharmaceutical companies is because he was the head of a weapons programme disguised as a public health program.
