We lost our almost 14 year old yorkie Nismo on Valentine’s Day, less than a week ago. It has torn my husband and I’s hearts to pieces. He’d been with us since he was 12 weeks old and it’s as if he’s always been there. He was a major part of our daily routines and there are things that will just never be the same without him. Everyone who came to the house loved him as well; it was hard not to love him. We miss him dearly as he was essentially our child. I am home during the day and the house feels empty and quiet without him here. Listening to this book was extremely therapeutic because it felt like a reassuring friend speaking kind words to me in this difficult time. It helped “drown out” the silence in the house a bit while dishing out compassion and empathy along with useful insight and wisdom to navigate the heartbreak. I would recommend it to anyone who’s lost a pet and are trying to get through it. There’s a lot of emphasis on furry friends in the book, however the feathery and scaled babies are also not forgotten about. As someone who also lost my sun conure Marley back in ‘21, I have to say I appreciated that. Many, many thanks to this author and to the gentle, caring voice who narrated.
