Historia
As a cassandra sangue, or blood prophet, Meg Corbyn can see the future when her skin is cut - a gift that feels more like a curse. Meg's Controller keeps her enslaved so he can have full access to her visions. But when she escapes, the only safe place Meg can hide is at the Lakeside Courtyard - a business district operated by the Others. Shape-shifter Simon Wolfgard is reluctant to hire the stranger who inquires about the Human Liaison job.

Standard Anne Bishop work...
Revisado: 09-14-16
Mindless and schlocky horror/romance. As usual all characters are dumb as bricks and incapable of communicating with each other. Good read for a day you don't want to think much.

Old favorites...
Revisado: 04-02-16
Love this author and the narrator, I'm a 20 year veteran fan of this series. Worth the money to get myself an audio copy to go with my hardcover collection. Lois is funny, accurate and as always, startlingly deep. Her work has aged exceedingly well over the decades because she addresses not so much the hard and fast engineering side of science fiction as the deeper social impacts of technology. Would you have a kid using your own body if you had a safer, saner technological option? What impact would that have on society, to uncouple sex from reproduction even farther than hormonal birth control has in the past half century? What about the impact of a two century lifespan on the family structure? She studies the impact of this and many other potential technologies in her works. Forewarned is four-armed, Quaddie pun entirely intended.

Luke Skywalker's game-changing destruction of the Death Star has made him not only a hero of the Rebel Alliance but a valuable asset in the ongoing battle against the Empire. Though he's a long way from mastering the power of the Force, there's no denying his phenomenal skills as a pilot--and in the eyes of Rebel leaders Princess Leia Organa and Admiral Ackbar, there's no one better qualified to carry out a daring rescue mission crucial to the Alliance cause.

First person narratives are a pet peeve of mine...
Revisado: 05-21-15
Would you try another book from Kevin Hearne and/or Marc Thompson?
A stellar performance from Marc Thompson but will not be buying Mr. Hearne's work again.
Has Heir to the Jedi: Star Wars turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, I've been a Star Wars fan for decades. Not a badly plotted book, but first person narratives have always seemed more appropriate to young adult and children's books. If it doesn't bother you, disregard my review. It's a personal preference. Still haven't managed to listen to the whole thing.
What does Marc Thompson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I enjoy Marc's talents as a voice actor, he is one of my favorite artists.

Plot holes you could drive a Bantha through...
Revisado: 05-21-15
Would you try another book from Paul S. Kemp and/or Jonathan Davis?
Jonathan Davis does a good job with poorly planned material. I've been a Star Wars fan for decades and this is disappointing.
What was most disappointing about Paul S. Kemp’s story?
Numerous large plot holes and mismatched generic off the shelf worldbuilding that desperately needed some better integration. Genre fiction doesn't have to suck, but this reads like it was thrown together in less than two months and dumped on the market with minimal editing.
Was Lords of the Sith: Star Wars worth the listening time?
Only because I was insanely bored at work this week.

Historia
First published in 1989 and taking place in downtown Toronto, one of the earliest of the modern urban fantasies, Gate of Darkness, Circle of Light is the story of a fight against encroaching darkness by a developmentally handicapped young woman, a street musician with no idea of his potential, a bag-lady who's tired of picking up the pieces, and an adept of the light. Mixing actual Toronto ghost-stories with traditional Faire, a police procedural, and a cat, Gate of Darkness, Circle of Light opened a gate at street level to the urban fantasy that followed.

Old favorite novel, awful narrator...
Revisado: 08-15-14
Would you be willing to try another one of Dina Pearlman’s performances?
No. Irritating voice, off characterization on every character.
Any additional comments?
I read this book many times as a teen and enjoy the author's other works immensely, but this reader is dreadful. Every character sounds constantly pissed off no matter the circumstances of the story. Disappointing.

The mysterious reappearance of magery throughout the land has been met with suspicion, fear, and violence. Meanwhile, in the neighboring kingdom of Tsaia, a set of ancient artifacts recovered by the former mercenary Dorrin Verrakai may hold the answer to the riddle of magery’s return.

Finally an ending...
Revisado: 05-30-14
What did you like best about Crown of Renewal? What did you like least?
Loooong series, sad to say it probably would have been a tighter tale as a three book edit, meanwhile it's also an attempt to tie up multiple sprawling plotlines, each of which felt like it ought to take up it's own book. Mediocre success in crossing the two. Not her best work, either one book more or two less might have helped. If you're a fellow dedicat of the author and series, buy, if only for the answers to questions, otherwise, visit your public library and get on the waiting list. There will be one.
If you’ve listened to books by Elizabeth Moon before, how does this one compare?
Not her best work. Rushed and overstuffed at the same time. I enjoyed the previous books more. They were better and more evenly paced, this was by turns overly brief, poorly focussed or plodding. She's clearly a Tolkien worshipper, and I love it when authors do their homework the way she does.

Love the books can't stand this particular reader.
Revisado: 05-02-14
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The previous books were far better read by Jennifer Van Dyke and Susan Erickson despite some inconsistencies in pronunciation of names and places. Don't even get me started on the ongoing snafu with the different accents for every 'foreign' character that switch around from french to eastern european to spanish to irish and back again depending on the reader. I know the narrators are performance artists with different styles and accent specialties, but some attempt at consistency from actually listening to the previous books might be of help.
