I can imagine the men behind the voices but the story is somewhat like reading a dictionary. I really appreciate hearing their experiences but it is hard to maintain any continuity for me.

It would be best if the readers knowledge of WW 2 fleet boats was limited so the Whitefins actions would be more believable. Other than military nomenclature being misused and liberty being taken with the boats operating practices this is a very good historical fiction book.

The story is good although not factual and I had some trouble with that. I recommend this book if you’re not a WW II history buff and it will be a fair read if you are. This book is not represented to be an actual history but is based on historical events. The book moves right along and never drags and the reader does a great job with it.

Accents can be difficult but they were well done by the reader who speaks clearly and is easy to understand.

I quit listening and deleted the book about 20 minuets into the story right after they started talking about being men sleeping with men.

This is a love story woven thru World War 2 and after. The love for his wife and comrades in arms shows clearly. This is a history of a bad time in this world told by a man who lived it heroically and yet wanted no recognition for anyone but the heroes that gave their lives so others could live.

Reader wore me out

The story is good because it happened and there is much to think about and consider. It gets a little tedious in it's depth but I would rather have that than be wondering about those details.

The reader (Neil Hellegers) wore me out trying to listen to him. I had to take breaks from the book because I got so tired of his monotone voice and the fact that he took a break at the end of each sentence. His pauses between sentences offer were long enough for me to lose track of the book and then I had to go back and replay it in part while trying to concentrate hard on staying focused. It's fine to hesitate at the end of a sentence that's what periods are there for but don't just quit and then restart after I have mentally wander off.

I won't listen to another book that he has read.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe. The narrator ruined the good fiction for me with his constant rapid dialogue and portraying all commanding officers as very excitable men which they certainly are not.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Slowed his delivery down to a more nearly normal pace. I suspect he is normally a fast talker but fast food drive through speech speed gets pretty wearing especially when the writer has the excitement covered with his writing skills. The delivery speed was wearing enough that I had to take breaks from the book to allow my ears to rest. My mind kept wondering if he was going to ask me if I wanted "fries with that". Again Commanding Officers cannot lead men if they themselves are excitable.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

A good narrator could have made me cry at some of the things that happened particularly when Mako was sinking.

Very good story with a personal angle. The reader mispronounced an occasional word that surprised me. I enjoy this series, I am a fan of believable sci-fi.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would only reccomend this book to someone with insomnia.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I managed to listen to this book by doing so in very small increments. There was just too much boreing detail that never seemed to lead to anything much. Hearing how the bad guys think was the most interesting part of the whole book.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

His voice droned on and on and on. He could not hold my attention. I suspect that a better reader would have made the book better and this book needed all the help it could get.

Could you see The Teeth of the Tiger being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Never happen.
