this narrator is painful.
Revisado: 06-11-15
Listening to this narrator made this book almost unbearable. He ended every sentence as if it was a statement there is a very strange structure to how he reads I wish David Baldacci had stayed with Dick Hill who always makes his books much more enjoyable

Am I missing something?
Revisado: 05-16-12
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I suppose this is a Classic Nora Roberts formula? There is no real story. No twists, no real suspense. 12 hours of setting up the back story. I kept expecting some real action, something to read TO. But in the end it was "Heroine is running, 12 hours of why, falling in love, blam over". Boring.
What could Nora Roberts have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
What happened to the coke can with her finger prints? Couldnt the Volcovs come after her. What about them? What happened to the organization? What about Blake? All that and "...he went to jail" so anti-climactic.

Historia
When reporter Ellen Gleeson gets a "Have You Seen This Child?" flyer in the mail, she almost throws it away. But something about it makes her look again, and her heart stops—the child in the photo is identical to her adopted son, Will. Her every instinct tells her to deny the similarity between the boys, because she knows her adoption was lawful. But she's a journalist and won't be able to stop thinking about the photo until she figures out the truth. And she can't shake the question: if Will rightfully belongs to someone else, should she keep him or give him up?

Unlikely story, unlikeable character
Revisado: 05-04-10
I finished this book wanting to slap Ellen, the main character across the face! Talk about selfish and uncaring. She completely lacks empathy for anyone but herself. Has she completely lost sight of the fact that she adopted this child? That there are other people with feelings for this boy? Maybe his birth parents? The "twist" at the end just made me angry.

Waiting for book to start
Revisado: 11-18-09
I thought this book would be a departure from what I normally read. It seems to have a good story line to it. I am 4 hours into it and am still waiting for this book to actually start. Spoiler Alert... after becoming "infected" they are still arguing about how to devise a PLAN on how to deal with the situation. wow... If I pulled this at work I would have lost my co-workers 3 hours ago.

This narration is killing me
Revisado: 10-02-09
I enjoyed the book, always have liked Baldacci. Unfortunately I found myself trailing off because I was distracted my the narrators voice. It was as if the emotion of what was happening didnt fit the intonation of his voice. Awful. I debated stopping the book but I needed to get to the following books. Consider not using this narator again.

Story ok, naration snore
Revisado: 07-01-08
The narration on this story is half panicked and half emotionless. It’s very strange. It’s as though everything is a question or an emphatic statement. The story is ok but Im having a hard time following it. Not as great as Envy, which was fantastic, but ok.

Implausible plot
Revisado: 07-10-07
I finished this book in one day because of some good plot twists. That being said the storyline is absurd. There is no way the main character would be able to pull this off. The story unfolds quickly which kept me interested but the plot was completely unrealistic. The ending seemed rushed, weak and obvious. The characters were not fully developed either. I love James Patterson’s work but I would save your money and rent it at the library.
