Fun story
Revisado: 02-04-25
I enjoyed the story and can see a lot of potential. There were a few confusing plot points but everything was wrapped up by the end. The only complaint that I have is that many of the major plot reveals were telegraphed well in advance. To me it was not that big of a deal though the overall story was well done.

Thank you.
Revisado: 11-19-22
Thank you for changing voice actors for this. I really want to love this story with the mixture of fighting, crafting, and base building. I am going to give the story a four out of five though. Often it feels more like a statement of a bunch of facts rather then a story with well thought out plot. not sure if others will agree with this or not. I am also very glad that this whole master expert thing was cleared up in this one over the last. having everyone be called masters when they are actually just journeymen was so annoying.

I really liked this book. The story is decent and the character development is nice. I felt like this was a decent way to have RPG elements in the story without drowning the listener in status screens. I would definitely suggest it.

Great world design and building in this series. You can tell the story was a continuos release though. Parts of the story don't always make sense and I can understand the people who said that as the story continues all the characters are becoming the same.

Separated as a child from his family, Theo has always had a feeling that he’s made for something bigger than the suburban life he seems to be headed for. When a bully threatens his best friend, he can’t help but step in the way. The problem is that Theo’s just not much of a fighter. Bruised and broken, Theo wakes up to a massive headache and what appears to be floating game text inviting him to become a dragon. While ludicrous, no matter how often he rejects the prompt, it simply returns. Knowing that his life can’t get any worse, he finally accepts...

Fun light story.
Revisado: 05-03-22
I was only somewhat interested at first and probably would not have listened to it if it wasn't an included title. The first 1/4 was a bit of a slow build but most of the book was pretty good. I am going to say four stars and not five since I think there is room for improvement with the characters development and the performance was decent but sometimes it was difficult to understand who was talking since some of the character voices were similar.
Overall I think it is a really fun listen and would suggest it for anyone who likes fantasy.

Great book! Great series!
Revisado: 02-08-22
If you are looking for a new series and enjoy a new take on a cultivation novel, this is the one for you.
Book Review:
This book starts off a bit slow as it lays the foundation for the series, but it is honestly a pretty great stand alone book of a boy fighting to overcome his rather bad circumstances. Somehow I never reviewed this the first two times I listened to it, but now that I came back for my third time in the last two years I figured I definitely should.
Reading Review:
Travis is awesome at his reading job and does a good job with making voices distinct and good inflection. He has read for three of my top five favorite series at this point and if you enjoy cultivation/litRPG then you it would probably be good to check out some of his other works.
Series Review:
I have listened to this series twice already and decided it has been long enough (a bit more then a year) I am not weird for giving it another go... this is probably my favorite series right now and I am very glad to have found Will Wight since the Travelers Gate series is also in my top five as well. I will admit that the Bloodline book is a bit more of a filler book but I understand why it was needed to be that way, Reaper made up for it though with some pretty epic revelations and good action.

When Erik and Rugrat entered the ten realms they didn’t know what was going on. They only knew that they had contracted the two week curse. When entering the second realm they came to understand their character sheets, and part of the system that is called the ten realms. A place that the strong make the rules and the weak cling to them for protection and hope that they might be left in peace. They passed through the trials of the Beast Mountain Dungeon, taking control of it and becoming the leader of nearly 200 people.

The reading is painful. And the world has issues.
Revisado: 02-07-22
I am going to stop listening to this series for now and hope that they remaster it like they did for the first book.
This reading is so painful!! Just skip the lines for all the woman if possible. I know that sounds horrible, but most male readers chose either going with a slightly more breathy voice or a slightly higher one. But this choose both and then adds a very bad accent to the mix. This could have been salvaged with better writing but only three of the woman in this have any decent amount to say most of it is short one to two sentences.
I am sorry to say that other then primary characters most characters are very flat in this world. It carried through from the first book and in some ways got worse in the repitition of young males trying to show dominance. Maybe it is supposed to be super rare for strong people to come to the second layer but literally there are several third and even a fifth layer person that is introduced in the story. Sorry but it is hard for me to believe that anyone in this universe would pick a fight with an unknown person without feeling out their level first. And don't tell me that they can't sense their level. If their level can't be sensed then it is a higher than likely chance they are way better then you. Every noble would know this fact in this universe of strength is everything.
My last complaint is the crafting system. Seems like the levels are Novice, Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, Master, Grandmaster. My issue is that apprentice grade and journeyman are constantly mixed up. apprentice is supposed to be unheard of on the first layer and slightly more common on the second layer with journeyman unheard of on the second layer. But all of the sudden Eric can do high journeyman level stuff even though he is barely a mid level apprentice his teacher can't even do expert level stuff even though he got to the fifth realm but Rugrats teacher says she is a master after going back to the dungeon even though she clearly says at one point she has never seen expert level equipment. I call shenanigans on all this. It is confusing as heck to have apprentice level people be called master and grandmaster all the time and then have someone jump straight to master within a two to three week time frame??? I gripe on this a lot since crafting was like 50% of the book. If you are going to designate a major portion of the book to something it really needs to be fleshed out well. Maybe this would be easier to understand reading rather then listening so I will not grade it to harshly.
Overall I give this three stars mostly due to the reading which could have been recovered for me with good writing, but for me this just could not make the cut. The overall world and setting is still interesting to me but I will wait and hope for a remastered addition before going to the third realm.

New to the series but pretty decent.
Revisado: 02-07-22
Story was pretty decent for a cultivation LitRPG. Even had the all to common auction scene all good cultivation novels seem to always have.
my main gripe with this book is the rather flat people that make up the world. It gets better later in the story after a certain event I won't spoil. I am definitely going to keep listening to this series but I am really hoping this gets a bit better.
the cultivation aspect seems pretty good but I will admit that the cultivation aspect seems much stronger then the litRPG side. Seems like any spell can be created as long as the intent is there... aka the initial healing spells. Yet no other spells are created spell books are needed for it and that is locked behind a pay wall. If a minor heal spell is so easy to make and does not require any significant magical knowledge you would think everyone in this world would at least have some basic spells to heal themselves for minor things. But nope healers are super rare and super expensive. don't tell me that you can only do it if you have open mama gates. Eric only had one open when he created the minor heal. I get not having higher level spells, but basic stuff should be doable with proper intent.
The overall reading is pretty good and although I am griping in here a bit it is a pretty good story and I have not come across a military Isekai style novel so I will give it four stars in hopes the flat world characters gets better.

Amazing. Two books in one.
Revisado: 01-30-22
First act should be called Jakes Magical Market and the second should be Jakes Magical Adventure. You are definitely getting two books in one with this purchase and if you are on the fence do yourself a favor and try it out.
The overall story is great, with a generous sprinkling of moments that literally had me laughing out loud. May be dangerous to listen to in public or work...
I really applaud the auther for trying to deal with some difficult ethical dilemmas for the main character. Typically things like moralityl and mental state go out the window in lit RPG, but this book actually deals with it while avoiding the inaction boring zone fairly well. By the end you feel like Jake is just a normal person thrown into crazy circumstances trying to find his place in a new world, I really like the LitRPG genre and this is a great addition to it.
Although I can see how this could be a standalone book, I really hope it will not be. It is just that the setting for the next act would be so epic in scale and isn't something that I have ever seen handled before. I want to say more about this but really don't want to give spoilers.

Good story. Good reading.
Revisado: 01-26-22
I enjoyed the story but really wish it was a bit longer. I feel like the main character was flushed out pretty well but the side characters not as much. All the characters in this book have great personality and you really grow to hate the main villain by the end of the book. Which I feel like was really well done.
I am hopeful the team mates and cultivation system will be given more depth in the future books. I am definitely impressed enough with the story, setting, and character interactions to give the next book a listen.
