Historia
Though Jack's Faction, the Crimson Alliance, has a tenuous truce with tech genius and Imperial lord, Robert Osmark, Jack knows it can't last. Osmark is devious and power hungry, and it's only a matter of time before he sends his forces to wipe Jack and his underdog crew off the map for good. If Jack hopes to survive another month inside of VGO, he must find a way to beat Osmark and his army of bloodthirsty thugs, and a new quest—the Path of the Jade Lord—may be just the ticket.

Interesting plot, mediocre execution.
Revisado: 11-24-23
As other reviewers put it, there is a lot of whiffle-waffling false-tension build-ups. Almost all of it was needlessly redundant.
More than once I found my self shouting to “just get on with it!”
The narrator’s choice to muffle his voice fit Sophia’s dialog or pinch their nose for Oswald’s made certain sections difficult to understand. Other reviewers have rightfully ding’d the way shouting is represented, and while more understandable that muffled or nasal mangling, it’s just as annoying.
Still, the story was interesting.

Historia
It’s been a busy month for 32-year-old Jack Mitchel: Three weeks ago, he died. Two weeks ago, he founded the first Faction in the ultra-immersive, fantasy-based VRMMORPG, Viridian Gate Online. A week and a half ago the world ended, destroyed by a cataclysmic asteroid. Seven days ago, he conquered the Imperial city of Rowanheath, bringing all of Eldgard to the brink of war.

I’m glad the auroral attacks on the paying listeners were diminished in this title.
I say diminished, because there are many still. Can’t win them all.
The story itself is still entertaining and easier to consume with fewer audio-foibles like moistmouth, vomiting noises, and other turns of distortion.

One bubble. Four castles. Fifteen days. Capture each one, and the stairwell is unlocked. Here's the thing. It's never easy. Carl and his team can't go it alone. Not this time. They must rely on the help of the low-level, I-can't-believe-these-idiots-are-still-alive crawlers trapped in the bubble with them. But can they be trusted?

Welcome to the Gun Show! The top 10 list is populated. The sponsorship program is open. The difficulty is ramping up. The first three floors were nothing compared to what Carl and Donut now face. The Iron Tangle. An impossibly complicated subway system built out of the world's subterranean railway systems, all combined and then tied together into a knot. Up is down. Down is up. Close is far. The cars are filled with monsters, the railway stations are less than safe, and the exit is always just a few stops away.

A review that’s painful to write
Revisado: 06-07-23
Matt, loved the story. I really hate that I have to one star you, but you didn’t veto my nemesis in listening to this title.
Jeff, your name appearing as the narrator has always been a value add in the past. You have damaged your reputation.
Soundbooth, you succeeded in making a good story gross-out theater. I find myself wanting a refund.
Just what inspired this? The sickup sounds injected into Morticai’s in-person dialog. It made me physically ill to hear, just like when your on a six hour flight and the drunk in the tow behind you yarks up in the first thirty minutes and half the flight ends up doing the technicolor yawn.
The sound effects, voice distortions, moistmouth, and shouting was bad enough, but I feel like the croakingvomit sounds were just listener torture.

The ratings and views are off the chart. The fans just can't get enough. The dungeon gets more dangerous each day. But in a grinder designed to chew up and spit out crawlers by the millions, Carl and Princess Donut need to work harder than ever just to survive. They call it the Over City. A sprawling, once-thriving metropolis devastated by a mysterious calamity. But these streets are far from abandoned. An undead circus trawls the ruins. Murdered prostitutes rain from the sky. An ancient spell is finally ready to reveal its dark purpose.

Revisado: 06-02-23
The story is sound, but the production group uses too many sound effects, shouted lines, and characters voiced with such distorted effects that it sounds like I’m listening to someone talking with a mouthful of food.
It turns an over wise interesting story into a painful listening experience. It’s a pity too, Jeff Hays usually does much better than this.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet.

Like trying to survive a hot date with a toothache….
Revisado: 07-27-21
The addition of around 24 minutes of extras is not worth the abrasive grit of the way Weaton pronounces several common names. “Vin-Kat” chief among them. When compared to the Bray narrated version or the movie it’s jarring.
If Andy Weir wanted his readers and listened to know it was correct a note in the forward would have been nice.
For now it just seems like another title ruined by revisionism from a more famous name narrating.

Time to say goodbye?
Revisado: 06-21-20
First and foremost, thank you for the narrator’s foreword. It’s often annoying which narrators change, but when you tell us why it takes some of the sting out. It’s clear that everyone on the crew misses William Dufris, as do those of us that enjoying listening to him.
The scope of this one runs all over the place, and leaves some details a little threadbare. While not un-enjoyable but there are places it kinda feels like Taylor was rushing to get the finished story into Williams hands for a last hurrah.
Don’t let that stop you. This one finishes the series, and even gives us V-G, V-D, and V-L days too.
P. J. Ochlan’s job of filling in those large shoes was mostly successful I think. I personally found the few times he tried a very high range falsetto it rendered the result outside where I could not understand it, and — sorry PJ — rendering the Titan of Death and Vengeance of Walker into sounding like Hank Hill. I wish I could un-hear that.
Hey, Taylor, here’s one fan that hopes you take us back to that world soon.
