Historia
In Mastery, Robert Greene's fifth book, he mines the biographies of great historical figures for clues about gaining control over our own lives and destinies. Picking up where The 48 Laws of Power left off, Greene culls years of research and original interviews to blend historical anecdote and psychological insight, distilling the universal ingredients of the world's masters.

10 times better than 50 laws of power
Revisado: 01-26-24
I can't believe this is the same author. I hated 50 laws of power. That book was hot garbage. This book is much better. I wouldn't have read this had it not been required by my current schooling. It is well thought out and reads easy. Nothing mind blowing but a few gems.

What is the future of war? How can we survive? If Americans are drawn into major armed conflict, can we win? McFate calls upon the legends of military study Carl von Clausewitz, Sun Tzu, and others, as well as his own experience, and carefully constructs the new rules for the future of military engagement, the ways we can fight and win in an age of entropy: one where corporations, mercenaries, and rogue states have more power and ‘nation states’ have less.

Well written and well thought out
Revisado: 01-26-24
I'm a military analyst and rarely impressed by military commentary. This was a refreshing change to the normal hyperbole I sift through everyday at work. Great analysis, true to power, and operationally relevant. The end is a bit meandering but I'll let it slide.

Historia
The human brain is an extraordinary machine. Its ability to process information and adapt to circumstances by reprogramming itself is unparalleled and it remains the best source of inspiration for recent developments in artificial intelligence. In How We Learn, Stanislas Dehaene decodes the brain's biological mechanisms, delving into the neuronal, synaptic, and molecular processes taking place. He explains why youth is such a sensitive period, but assures us that our abilities continue into adulthood and that we can enhance our learning and memory at any age.

Should be titled how babies learn
Revisado: 01-26-24
Not a huge strike against the author, the book is good. It just should be re-titled how babies learn. The book is about 75% brain development and learning at an early age.

Historia
The second Nagorno-Karabakh war—fought between Armenia and Azerbaijan between September 24 and November 10, 2020—was the first war in history won primarily by unmanned systems. This forty-four-day war resulted in a decisive military victory for Azerbaijan. Armenia was outfought, outnumbered, and outspent and lost even though they controlled the high ground in a mountainous region. The fact that Azerbaijan won the war is not extraordinary. What is exceptional is that this was the first modern war primarily decided by unmanned weapons.

I wanted to love this book but it fails to launch. It's got some interesting parts, like when the author visits these other worlds but it seems to leave the story a bit flat.

I can't stomach this terrible writing.
Revisado: 01-26-24
I've tried to get through this audio book twice. Both times, I physically can't take it. It's not the narration or even the content per say. It's the horrendous writing. This book is written in like 3rd, 4th, and 5th person. If you're not familiar with that, neither am I, and I'm a writer. The system, or whatever it is, might not be that bad, but getting through the fluff of this is not worth it. It's annoying, cliche, and tiresome.

Millions of people have thrilled to best-selling authors Bill O'Reilly and historian Martin Dugard's Killing Kennedy and Killing Lincoln, works of nonfiction that have changed the way we view history. Now the anchor of The O'Reilly Factor details the events leading up to the murder of the most influential man in history: Jesus of Nazareth. Nearly 2,000 years after this beloved and controversial young revolutionary was brutally killed by Roman soldiers, more than 2.2 billion human beings attempt to follow his teachings and believe he is God.

Fantastic. This is a great look at the man.
Revisado: 11-10-22
I loved this book. This was a very realistic depiction of the times, the legend, and horror of the whole situation. Truly the ultimate tragedy and the greatest story ever told. If you are fairly learned and have a genuine interest in the the real story, then this will scratch the itch. I won't delve into anyone's personal beliefs, but this builds a strong base for those that believe the story of Jesus bears the bones of philosophy, not just a whimsical tale of miracles and magic. In your own journey, once you realize the man and his disciples were actually brilliant "philosophers" your world will open to a new paradigm.

Historia
"Little Wars" is a set of rules for playing with toy soldiers. Its full title is "Little Wars: a game for boys from twelve years of age to one hundred and fifty". "Little Wars" includes fairly simple rules for infantry, cavalry, and naval artillery in the form of a toy 4.7 inch gun that launched projectiles, usually small wooden dowels to knock down enemy soldiers. In addition to its being a war game, the book hints at several philosophical aspects of war. The book is written in a whimsical style and gives a description of the game from the view of one of the generals in the battle bombastically relating his memoirs.

Meh... this was ok. It's H.G. Wells, so it's written well, just not that exciting. There are some good quotes near the beginning but after that it's a bit of a slog. I read this for research for a work project. It got the job done.

Well researched... tough subjective topic.
Revisado: 11-15-18
This book was well written and the reading was performed superbly. If you're on the fence, go ahead, you wont be disappointed.
Content is well researched. This topic is very subjective and hard to pin down any trends. I think his results are a bit of a reach. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in product design.
