Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Great read especially after reading "IT", so many parallels between the two novels. I love historical(ish) fictions and this fit the bill another great one by King.

Historia
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge.

Couldn't beat the orignals
Revisado: 09-25-14
What would have made Dune better?
The author staying true to the original characters. It also seemed to just drag on and on and didn't have a true climax to the story.
Has Dune turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, the books by Frank Herburt were amazing. It's difficult for a son to take on a series started by his dad and make it as awesome.
How could the performance have been better?
The voices were very monotone and would put me to sleep. I think that was mostly the fault of the story line though.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I was disappointed.

Historia
Thomas Cale has been running from the truth. Since discovering that his brutal military training has been for one purpose - to destroy God's greatest mistake, mankind itself - Cale has been hunted by the very man who made him into the Angel of Death: Pope Redeemer Bosco. Cale is a paradox: arrogant and innocent, generous and pitiless. Feared and revered by those created him, he has already used his breathtaking talent for violence and destruction to bring down the most powerful civilisation in the world.

Beginning came out of left field
Revisado: 10-15-13
What disappointed you about The Beating of His Wings?
It seemed like the author did not stay true to the style and tone of the first two books in the series. And it took forever to get into the story, the beginning came out of left field.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I'm currently listening to The White Queen series by Phillip Gregory.
Would you listen to another book narrated by Sean Barrett?
Yes
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Beating of His Wings?
Cut the beginning, if they wanted to do something like that they should've tied it into the other two books. I won't go into detail because I do not want to give it away if anyone wants to read it.

Historia
Dexter County, Maine, and specifically the town of Empire Falls, has seen better days, and for decades, in fact, only a succession from bad to worse. One by one, its logging and textile enterprises have gone belly-up, and the once vast holdings of the Whiting clan (presided over by the last scion’s widow) now mostly amount to decrepit real estate. The working classes, meanwhile, continue to eke out whatever meager promise isn’t already boarded up. Miles Roby gazes over this ruined kingdom from the Empire Grill, an opportunity of his youth that has become the albatross of his life.

Characters you might actually meet
Revisado: 06-21-13
Would you consider the audio edition of Empire Falls to be better than the print version?
Audible is more convenient for me because I am on the road a lot for work.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Empire Falls?
The author makes the characters like someone you might go to a small town and meet. He did a great job of making this story seem like you're really living life in this town with the characters.
Which character – as performed by Ron McLarty – was your favorite?
Ron did a great job portraying the "silver fox", especially when he was meant to sing in the story.
Who was the most memorable character of Empire Falls and why?
Tick was the most memorable character. She's a smart, but quirky teenager. She has all the typical teenage problems, but handles them very maturely.

What made the experience of listening to Code Talker the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed learning about the Navajo culture and the Code Talker's contributions to WWII.

A Higher Call is another WWII book I really enjoyed, but it takes place at the Western Front, while Code Talkers takes place on the Eastern Front.

Historia
Four days before Christmas in 1943, a badly damaged American bomber struggled to fly over wartime Germany. At its controls was a 21-year-old pilot. Half his crew lay wounded or dead. It was their first mission. Suddenly a sleek, dark shape pulled up on the bomber’s tail - a German Messerschmitt fighter. Worse, the German pilot was an ace, a man able to destroy the American bomber with the squeeze of a trigger.

Great story with a different point of view!
Revisado: 05-21-13
Where does A Higher Call rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book is one of the best I have read so far. Most WWII books I've read have been from an American point of view, this book really gave me a better understanding of both sides of the story.
What other book might you compare A Higher Call to and why?
I also read Code Talkers, which is another WWII book. Higher call is more about the Western front, while Code Talkers is more about the Eastern Front.
Which character – as performed by Robertson Dean – was your favorite?
Franz was my favorite, as the main character. And Dean's German accent was pretty darn good!
