if your in the mood to watch batman but can't it does the trick
Revisado: 10-17-24
To start with, this is a very condensed version of Batman that's an ALMOST exact retelling of the movie. no extra scenes and some scenes are missing. The performance of Roddy McDowel is bizarre, his take on the Joker is manic, over the top, and off putting if you've seen the movie alot.
While his Batman jokes, yells alot and God help me even laughs once or twice. But I can respect a narrators choices and once you accept it, the story actually can draw you in.
My biggest problem was a technical glitch that had audio looping in the background at an almost inaudible buzz but I could hear it the entire book and it was very distracting.
In the end this is an adaptation of a movie so I really didn't expect much going in, it definitely does the job and made me feel like I was watching Batman while I was at work, albeit with a different cast.

Greg Wise reads Pierre Boulle's chilling, iconic novel about a nightmare world where apes rule over men. In a spaceship that can travel at the speed of light, Ulysse, a journalist, sets off from Earth for the nearest solar system. He finds there a planet which resembles his own, except that on Soror humans behave like animals and are hunted by a civilised race of primates.

well thought out and well written, still hold up
Revisado: 10-06-24
I have never seen the original planet of the apes movies, nor any of the remakes, but I do know of them. So the big reveal at the end was still a surprise even though I knew of it. This story is a well thought out piece of fiction that still holds up today. it's only a shame audible only has this book and not the sequels.

Historia
In the early 18th century, the Pirate Republic was home to some of the great pirate captains, including Blackbeard, "Black Sam" Bellamy, and Charles Vane. Along with their fellow pirates - former sailors, indentured servants, and runaway slaves - this "Flying Gang" established a crude but distinctive democracy in the Bahamas, carving out their own zone of freedom in which servants were free, Blacks could be equal citizens, and leaders were chosen or deposed by a vote.

fascinating read that makes you feel like your in school
Revisado: 09-07-24
While this book had some very fascinating facts about real life pirates, my mind kept wandering try as i might to focus. the narrator, as good a job as he did bore a close resemblance in vocal tone to my 8th grade social studies teacher. The performance was quite dry and made me feel like I was hearing a lecture on pirate history. However despite that there are still some good facts and stories I'm here if you like reading about history.

A very informative book with great points
Revisado: 06-29-24
Weither you need to change some aspects of your life or your a fan of Jon Taffer and Bar Rescue this book is worth picking up. Mr.Taffer himself explains in clear detail how to deal with conflict, and for one such ad myself who suffers from anxiety and usually avoids conflict, I found this book to be very insightful and extremely helpful.

Another fun visit to Toontown
Revisado: 09-24-23
Gary Wolf does it again, with the third installment of Riger Rabbit I was thoroughly entertained, was kept laughing and guessing the entire time. This one expands on the previous world by showcasing Toontown almost the whole book and boy does the town have a presence!
Eddie Valient is still just as fun to read as before and Roger is so well written it's a joy everytime he's in a scene. Also Willie P. is a great villian for this story, he was actually one of my favorite characters this time around.
While I wish there was more continuity between each novel it does help, as each book can be picked up and enjoyed without reading any of the previous books before, it's a refreshing change of pace from the huge interconnected worlds and stories of today honestly.
Filled with a fun world, great characters and snappy writing, Who Wacked Roger Rabbit is just a fun read I would recommend to any fan of the too. Rabbit or his cartoon pals.

another great story in Toontown!
Revisado: 08-10-23
Gary Wolf hadn't lost his touch in the second Toontown novel, this story grabbed me by the long ears and held on till the end keeping me guessing the entire tine!
I found myself dissapointed that this wasn't filmed for a sequel, would have been a great follow up to the movie.
can't wait to read the next one! gonna order myself so hard copies to p-p-p-present in my collection!

Private eye Eddie Valiant doesn't like Toons - those cartoon characters who live side-by-side with humans. But Eddie will work for a Toon if his cash supply is low enough. So he reluctantly agrees when Roger Rabbit, a Toon who plays straight man (or should that be straight rabbit) in the Baby Herman cartoon series, asks him to find out who's been trying - unsuccessfully - to buy his contract from the DeGreasy Brothers syndicate. Then Rocco DeGreasy is murdered - and Roger is the prime suspect!

utterly disrespect from Ralph.
Revisado: 08-17-22
normally I love Hollywood Babylon they make me laugh it brightens up my day but Ralph's other disrespect to the death of Lee Mendelson in this episode is beyond disgusting. I don't care if you don't like the peanuts thousands of people do myself included and it was part of my childhood I highly respect Lee Mendelson for all the work he did and he deserves to be honored like everybody else in the Tinseltown stiff segment other than that enjoyable. but that whole segment soured me in the whole episode
