I literally have zero criticisms of this book and its narrator. This was an enjoyable listen from beginning to end. I know life does not always flow like this, but this story sure inspired hope, fire and sensuality in me. Definitely an unexpected, new fav!

I truly enjoyed this book. I was very relatable and relevant. The nostalgia and life lessons within make this a book one must return to and listen more than once or twice. This will certainly be saved under "Favorites." I'm excited to begin Book 2 in this series ❤️

Can we get on the same page?
Revisado: 11-10-21
I accidentally read this series out of order. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed both stories and listened til the end. HOWEVER, as this review is titled, can we get on the same page???
I read a different series that contained 5 books and used the same narrators for each book. My brain had to work so hard to differentiate between the characters. When I noticed that this series of 2 books had 2 different narrators, I was happy. Boy was I wrong!!! The 2 narrators don't even pronounce the name of the main character the same. Plus, one narrator portrays her as a young, hot headed female, and the other portrays her as this grown and sexy business woman, wife, and mother. Not that much time passed amongst the characters for such a huge difference. The lack of continuity between the 2 narrators feels like an egregious error. For the life of me, I don't understand why at least the name pronunciation was not corrected before this audio production was released. Everytime I heard her name, it was like someone banging a gong in my head. It took about 15 chapters before it stopped bothering me so much. Fortunately, I was so intrigued by the story and am so limited on time to read a hard copy, I made it through to the end.
Bottom line - loved the story, hated the narrators' lack of continuity.

In a performance that combines the personal and poetic with the literary and the lyrical, Grammy, Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe-winning artist Common spins something entirely new and bold for both his old-school fans and those new to one of hip-hop’s most essential voices. This is Bluebird Memories, part of Audible's Words + Music that blends storytelling, music, and performance to create a one-of-a-kind listening experience.

I want to take this EXCELLENCE - wrap it up, and send it to even black man, every father, every son, every lover if hip hop, every lover of theater. This is content creation at it's BEST. I did not expect to hear what I heard. I did not expect to be blown away. Thank you, Common and everyone who played a part in the production.

This was a very fun, quirky quickie. Sometimes I can get stuck in particular genres. This was a break from my norms. It was like inhaling coffee grounds between body sprays to neutralize the senses for the next scent. I feel like my brain has been reset and ready for the next listen.

A McClain Fan. About the narrators...
Revisado: 05-08-21
I am sold on this series after Books 1 & 2. I was a bit skeptical about hearing the same narrators on new characters. I thought it would sound too much like book 1. There were of course some similarities that I thought could have been written and narrated differently, but the true juxtaposition and skill was demonstrated when Ev, Jo, Leland, & Kim were all having a conversation at one table. The nuances were apparent. How it was written is quite clever. There was a great about of inclusion of Ev & Jo's continuation while keeping the focus on Leland & Kim.

Fairy Godmother, please...
Revisado: 04-30-21
Fairy godmother, please give me a love story like this!! Everette has me looking at my own husband with the side eye lol! This is my first book of this genre (which earned me a new badge 😉) . Initially, I felt embarrassed to even purchase it, but I did anyway and DO NOT REGRET IT! What a complete love story!! I had all the feels with each real life ebb & flow. This book popped up in suggestions for me, and I didn't know it was the 1st in a series. When I realized there was more to come, I was stoked because I DID NOT WANT THIS BOOK TO END! Well, on to the next. I predict that I will be sold on the entire series.

A Great, Quick Listen
Revisado: 05-16-20
This Audible Original is a hit. It gave me old school Twilight Zone feels or modern day Criminal Minds feels. The plot was very easy to imagine as the narrator read, and I'm appreciative of closed endings. Thanks for this free selection.

A Beautiful Surprise
Revisado: 03-16-19
I was skeptical that I'd enjoy this book for a number of reasons. One being that this is not my usual genre of choice, and another being that I perceived this to be a kids or tweens book. I was pleasantly surprised. I love that the story is lengthy, and several times when I thought the story was ending, the plot thickened making the typical genie in a lamp story less predictable. Visualizing the characters & the action was very easy to do. The narrator was wonderfully animated and performed every line in the way I would have. Lastly, it was great to have a closed, happy ending.

Great Nuggets
Revisado: 03-01-19
This book provides some very profound points. I had about 5 or 6 light bulb moments. I also got some encouragement and preparation to press on a little further in my wilderness experiencs. I also felt it had quite a bit of "fluff" surrounding the spiritual jewels I perceived. While I usuallly love to hear Self Development books narrated by the author with the emphasis he/she intended it to have, and John Bevere was animated in his reading, I didn't enjoy the narration this time for reasons I'm not sure how to state while being PC and not offensive - a great job, just not my personal taste. I'll probably listen once again to jot down those jewels since I didn't do it the first time.
