Historia
Waiting in the emergency room at Temple University Hospital in North Philadelphia where his eighteen-year-old nephew, Nasir, lay unconscious after being shot nine times, MK Asante began pouring his heart and soul into a series of letters to a beautiful, dying Black boy so full of life. As Nasir fought for survival, MK realized there was so much—too much—that he had kept from his nephew, starting with the truth about his father, MK’s brother, Uzi, whom Nasir had never met. MK could no longer remain silent because in many ways, his nephew was repeating the mistakes of the past.

Soul nourishing!
Revisado: 03-17-24
This is a stunningly written book. The story and narration are rhythmic, heartbreaking and revealing as much through the said as the unsaid. Read/Listen to this book. It made me more intricately aware of time/context as a rich character woven through out each person's journey. I didn't want it to end. And the truth is...it doesn't. I highly recommend you listen to this with full attention. It was well give back to you more than you can imagine!

Phenomenal and Beyond!
Revisado: 01-28-23
Listening to this book was an energetic, somatic and spiritual experience! The complexity of flow of thoughts beckons me to relisten (which I did and will happily do again and again). This book invited me to a practice of integration (which is my experience of sacred texts). The writing and storytelling of Alexis Pauline Gumbs speaks affirmingly to so many remote and marginalized parts of myself! I'm grateful for this spirit-full offering and the clear channeling skills present throughout! This Afro-Futurist lens on all that has occurred, is occurring and will occur is a present...a precious gift I will continue to unwrap for as long as possible!
Deep Gratitude 🙏🏾!

But every kind of animal, including humans, is enclosed within its own unique sensory bubble, perceiving but a tiny sliver of our immense world. In An Immense World, Ed Yong coaxes us beyond the confines of our own senses, allowing us to perceive the skeins of scent, waves of electromagnetism, and pulses of pressure that surround us.

This book fed my nerdy curiosity while also calling me to practice with this gift/human talent of imagining other umwelts. So rich! Worthy of deep attention! Highly recommended!
