This book may just not have been my cup of tea. I usually don't go for thrillers and I got it because I hoped there would be a nice dose of horror. I do not think there was. That said, I think there were several items in the story and performance that people should be aware of BEFORE they purchase this Audible book. Below is a list of events that occur in the book in a non-spoiler way so you can be the judge:

1. The narrator performs a stereotypical Asian accent for a Korean character. I cannot wholly blame the narrator for this as the author describes this accent and alludes to it at least one other time.
2. The aforementioned Korean character has some age gap fetish as is discussed in detail how she not only keeps trying to bed the much older professor, but the author describes how she loses her virginity to her high school physics teacher,
3. The narrator perform a stereotypical Indian accent (think Apu). This one has no apparent defense.
4. The narrator performs a bad stereotypical Australian accent. Again, there is no real defense for this.
5. There is a list of sex acts that someone with a "sexual addiction" (this turn comes out of nowhere) performed during their descent into addiction that was clearly written by someone who has either never had sex or has only had missionary heterosexual sex. Those of you who have ever had any sex beyond that will know exactly what I am talking about.
6. The narrator attempts to perform a Swedish accent, but it comes off as the Asian accent from earlier.
7. In the following chapter after the sexual addiction discussion, the author spent roughly the same amount of time discussing the making of deviled eggs as they did about the other character's sex addiction.
8. In the very beginning of the book you learn that the main character is acquitted of multiple counts on manslaughter. Despite this foreknowledge, the author spends a fair amount of time giving the reader the full closing arguments of both the prosecution and the defense.
9. This last item is a tougher call as the narrative voice of the novel sometimes slips into the viewpoint of the main character, but there is a line describing people who have attended this trial are just jealous of this man for how handsome and successful he is, not that they might believe him to be guilty of the crimes he is on trial for.

So, yeah. Buyer Beware

I loved this story from start to finish. It treads a beautiful line between vulgar, sweet, and funny. I smiled the whole time I listened to it
