Historia
Ted Kerasote met and adopted Merle, a Labrador mix, while he was on a camping trip. Merle had been living in the wild, and after taking the dog home with him to Wyoming, Kerasote soon realized that Merle could not adjust to inhabiting exclusively the human world. So he put a door in his house to let Merle live both outside and in. A deeply touching portrait of a remarkable animal, Merle's Door explores the issues that all animals and their human companions face.

Historia
Every major decision governing our diverse, majority-female, and increasingly liberal country bears the stamp of the US Senate, yet the Senate allows an almost exclusively White, predominantly male, and radically conservative minority of the American electorate to impose its will on the rest of us. How did we get to this point? In Kill Switch, Adam Jentleson argues that shifting demographics alone cannot explain how Mitch McConnell harnessed the Senate and turned it into a powerful weapon of minority rule.

In violent agreement
Revisado: 04-14-21
It is highly unusual to find almost universal agreement in the reviews of any audiobook. Having approximately 150 audiobooks in my personal library I can attest to the fact my fellow listeners are spot on when they say giving one star for narration in this book is overly generous.
Having said that, for anyone who is interested in governance, politics or the United States Senate "Kill Switch” is a must read and that includes every sitting in United States senator.

Historia
Barbara A. Res worked directly with Donald Trump for 18 years on some of his biggest projects and had nearly unlimited access to him. Trump selected Res to be in charge of construction of Trump Tower, his greatest success as a developer. In this insider’s look at how the ambitious real estate developer became the most divisive president in recent US history, Res takes us into closed-door meetings, boardrooms, limo rides, and helicopter flights to really understand what makes him tick and show us why his claim to be a great dealmaker and savvy businessman is just a mirage.

Fascinating, historical, credible
Revisado: 02-09-21
Over the past four years I have watched, listened to and read a great deal of information about our 45th president. Much of it thoroughly researched and well written and some of it not so much.
However, if you truly want to know and understand Donald J. Trump you have only to read or listen to “Too Much and Never Enough by Mary L. Trump and "Tower of Lies” by Barbara A. Res. Two different authors, two very different perspectives, one congruent conclusion.

Historia
It is 997 CE, the end of the Dark Ages. England is facing attacks from the Welsh in the west and the Vikings in the east. Those in power bend justice according to their will, regardless of ordinary people and often in conflict with the king. Without a clear rule of law, chaos reigns. In these turbulent times, three characters find their lives intertwined.

Please, not again.
Revisado: 10-28-20
I have finished eight of Ken Follet’s historical fiction novels. I have throughly enjoyed his historical research and story lines. Unfortunately, after finishing this novel I have finally had enough of Follet's constant and ubiquitous sexual interactions between the characters. The over-the-top and unrealistic sexual desires of the women in his stories is reminiscent of a Junior High school boy who has discovered his first Playboy magazine.
My criticism does not emanate from some prudish assault on my sensibilities. I only wish that Follet would use sex in his books as the salt of the meal and not the main course.

Historia
People are now exposed to more information than ever before, provided both by technology and by increasing access to every level of education. These societal gains, however, have also helped fuel a surge in narcissistic and misguided intellectual egalitarianism that has crippled informed debates on any number of issues. Today, everyone knows everything and all voices demand to be taken with equal seriousness, and any claim to the contrary is dismissed as undemocratic elitism.

Just what’s needed

Audible Review
During this time when so many in our National leadership are mired down in narcissism, false rhetoric, and divisiveness, The Death of Expertise is a not so gentle, but justified, rap across the knuckles by a dedicated professor that says wake up, sit up straight and pay attention. After finishing this read I concluded that it was just what I needed to hear.

It Depends On You
Revisado: 03-08-13
First, let me say this is a very good story. It’s beautifully written and reveals a world most of us know little about or have ever given much consideration. But I would offer a word of caution. If you are a type “A” personality, beware. This is a narration in no kind of hurry and could drive you nuts. If you like your stories ambling along with frequent digressions over this or that you’re going to love this book. Unless you happen to be an individual that gets queasy over not so pretty, gut wrenching, painful descriptions of various medical maladies. Other that than that…enjoy!

Historia
In one of the most timely political books in years, Gail Collins declares that "what happens in Texas doesn't stay in Texas anymore." Gail Collins's fascination with Texas began rather abruptly in that distant spring of 2009 when she heard Governor Rick Perry - back to the wall, boots to the ground - address a Tea Party rally full of passionate Texans who seemed to be interested in seceding from the Union. "How long had this been going on?" she wondered, on behalf of the rest of the nation. "Was it something that we said?"

Ever feel like Texas had it coming? Well it came.
Revisado: 07-13-12
What made the experience of listening to As Texas Goes... How the Lone Star State Hijacked the American Agenda the most enjoyable?
Anyone who has ever had to deal with the Texas culture, the unwarranted arrogance and absurdities that goes with it will certainly appreciate the wit and humor that Gail Collins brings to the subject.
Would you be willing to try another one of Gail Collins’s performances?
Only if Ms. Collins sticks to writting and leaves the narration to the professionals. While some may find her "dead pan performance" suitable to the narrative I found insufferable.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Although there is a serious and dark side to this book there is also much that is a real giggle.
