What was one of the most memorable moments of Insomnia?

the cacophony of flaming garbage that passed for a score.

Have you listened to any of Eli Wallach’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

good

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

hate to beat a dead horse, but yeah, all three... in response to the score, sound effects are not at all necessary for audio books... ever.

Any additional comments?

Eli has a soft older man's voice that is pleasant if not middle of the road for a narrator. unfortunately, his soft pleasant voice is interrupted almost randomly, save for the action based or tense moments, by the most shrill cheeseball horror scoring I've ever heard. something like an overzealous sound engineer's first project in a genre they only have a glancing familiarity with, that was then mixed by someone else who either connected with said score so much that they thought it imperative to hear it over the narrator as often as possible, or had their levels dial was molested by a house cat moments before hitting save and sending it off to audible. it is truly awful and nearly made the book unlistenable for me.

A bit short and the ending felt a little forced, but I enjoyed it all the same.
