although, I do think the there are some great book club themes to discuss, including the spectrum of parenting, making different decisions in your past, what we do for those we love, etc. Still, waaaay too long. Begs the question why she couldn't have figured it out in 3 or less time travels.

I just could not like Abby

I found her self- centered and immature. ignoring and being completely unresponsive verbally to someone is not adult behavior. in fact, I would argue she has a mental condition that is never addressed. which makes one wonder why Nicholas puts up with it. I love a good romance with challenges for the livers to overcome, but this story is all about Abby being constantly so immature she won't have a conversation. over and over and over. ugh. forced myself to finish, but really cannot see her issues as anything other than self-imposed.

Read this one, don't spend your credit trying to get through the narration.

Story is good, although someone should inform the author -and editor! - that you don't put out oil/grease fires with water.

It's very hard to listen to the narrator. The narration sounds affected and fake, and somehow flat. Some voices are so high pitched, the women for whom she is speaking sound like children. The narrator gives the female characters overtones of know-it-alls. Narrating for a romance book with many strong women requires an ability to straddle warm yet competent, with each woman's quirks offering the different inflections., which Teri Clark Linden is unable to achieve in this book.

Good book. enjoyed the characters and plot.
Narrator sighs too much, and sometimes I can hear lips or mouth smacking, like he has a dry mouth. It is distracting.

There's a lot written about rape, and as such, the plot line seems way too simple for the rape victims.

Narrator sounds like the old Dragnet TV program, not like a DC cop. Very hard to envision DC, and I keep thinking I'm listening to my father's favorite cop drama from when I was a kid.

unlike the 1st book, which had multiple tasks, this book is all about a single task, and I found myself wishing to just get on with it. I wanted to skip to the end, it moved so slowly.
The protagonist spent WAY too much time in denial. I finished it, but won't be moving on to the 3rd book, which again, as a single task, I can only imagine will be just as slow.

Struggled to finish. I found the narrator's voice annoying and self important sounding. Both the book and the narrator made the heroine sound the same. I found no reason for the male lead to fall in love with someone who came across a so self important. Beginning to end, I was desperately hoping she was found to be wrong and look a fool.

The female protagonist is incredibly unlikeable

Struggled to finish
I normally like Julia Quinn, but I cannot figure out why anyone would like the personality of the female lead. Self-centered and superficial, she doesn't take responsibility for her actions or reactions. The initial connection between her and the male lead is forced, and as a human, the woman has no redeeming qualities by the time he is initially attracted to her, which makes the pairing incrediblyunbelievable. I was unable to suspend my disbelief long enough to figure out why I should like this book. I really just wanted to stop listening, that is how much I disliked this storyline.

I just cannot like Mara - Could Not Finish

Mara is more antagonist than protagonist. The character comes across as manipulative, unforgiving, rude, cruel, and self-centered. Even the drive to keep the orphanage is more about her than any true altruism one might hope to see in the character. She gets her fulfillment from being the governess and the boys are a by- product of her need to do what she wants, regardless of its impact on others. Case(s) in point, wittingly, she allows one man to be assumed a murderer (even though there is no body), wittingly embroils her younger brother in her lie, and wittingly abandons same brother. For 12 years this goes on, and the only real reason she comes forward is for money.
I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why anyone would feel sympathetic for her. She got what she wanted at the expense of those around her.
Forgiveness by Temple I could accept, but asking me to be happy that he can fall in love with someone like this is a bridge too far. I need the protagonist to have some redeeming qualities.
