Don’t Miss this Wonderful Series
Revisado: 02-21-25
Following the life of Tom Braas, who his hippy/dippy mother wanted to call Jupiter, is an incredible adventure. Tom is model of childhood resilience even though several of his siblings were not so fortunate. Highly recommended.

Historia
As the “Seeing Eye Girl” for her blind, artistic, and mentally ill mother, Beverly Armento was intimately connected with and responsible for her, even though her mother physically and emotionally abused her. Beverly’s mother regained her sight and went on to enjoy a moment of fame as an artist, but these positive turns did nothing to stop her disintegration into delusions. In this memoir, Beverly shares the coping strategies she invented to get herself through the trials of her young life, and the ways in which school and church served as refuges over the course of her journey.

The memoir of a bright, resilient woman who survived terrible abuse at the hands of her blind, mentally ill mother in large part due to the support of her public school teachers.

Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Disappointing
Revisado: 06-08-18
I'm a long time audio book listener and an even longer time King fan. This was incredibly hard to get through, but I hung in to the end because I felt like I had to! The story was somewhat interesting in the beginning, but never really grabbed me. None of the characters were nuanced and fascinating... Which is something I expect from Stephen King. Worst of all was the narration. The voice of Holly was agonizing to listen too. I understand that they were trying to portray an Asperger's type character with a voice that had unusual prosody, but it missed the mark. Instead she sounded like she was constantly out of breath and was reading dialoge from which all punctuation had been removed.

Actually painful
Revisado: 05-02-17
What disappointed you about The Third Victim?
The narration was simply awful. I've never written a review before, but felt like I had to say something about this one. The narration was so bad, that I couldn't even tell if I liked the book, to be honest. It seemed flat and as if every sentence and description was utterly predictable.
Would you be willing to try another one of C. J. Critt’s performances?
No
