Historia
The Chair and The Valley is a raw, gut-wrenching, and amazing story about healing from trauma and starting over. It is a testament to the importance of chosen family, the restorative power of nature, and the strength it takes to build a new life in the face of fear and doubt. Banning takes listeners through his fraught relationship with his family, the mistreatment he suffered at the hospital, the lawsuit against the owners of the facility, and his desire to make sense of what happened to him. We witness Banning navigate the difficult landscape of trauma and his battle to live a normal life.

Moving memoir, beautifully read

I read this memoir as a hardcover, and listened as well. The reading by the author of this beautiful book emphasizes the beauty of this book. His voice is very soothing, despite the difficulty of the topic, and the emotional time of the story is supported through his reading. A must listen!

Historia
We’ve all been there: We take a pause, look at our lives, and desire more—more from our relationships, more from our wellness journeys, maybe simply more from ourselves. For some, it might be more fun, more peace, more exploration—but what does it take to get to the other side of living in survival mode? In On Thriving, Brandi Sellerz-Jackson helps us wade through what she calls the four great labors of our lives—labors that she’s had to overcome and that she has led many clients through.

An inspiring book, read beautifully

I loved this book. I listened to the story, and Brandi's love for her book was palpable. I felt like I was being spoken to by a good friend. Her book felt warm and validating: as a woman, as a mother, I understood so much of what she was saying. Even though our struggles and traumas are not identical, I felt like she had practical advice for moving beyond surviving our lives and striving to thrive there. Although that may seem obvious from the title, I walked away from this book deeply impacted by her words, which resonated with me for months after I read it. I am buying a hard copy so I can go back and re-read key passages when I need a reminder that I have all the tools that I need, that I am enough. Thanks, Brandi, for your bravery in sharing this gift of a book.
