Historia
1966, NYC: Jacqueline Susann’s Valley of the Dolls hits the bookstores and she is desperate for a bestseller. It’s steamy, it’s a page-turner, but will it make the big money she needs? In London, Jackie Collins’s racy The World Is Full of Married Men launches her career. But neither author is prepared for the price they will pay for being women who dare to write about sex. Jacqueline and Jackie are lambasted by the literary establishment, deluged with hate mail, and even condemned by feminists. In public, both women shoulder the outcry with dignity; in private, they are crumbling.

Wanted to like it
Revisado: 04-30-25
Pretty boring actually. Meh. The performance was ok, the story not so much. Author’s previous works led me to think this would be ok.

Historia
Forbidden love. Family secrets. A twist of fate. The stunning new generational saga from Belinda Alexandra, best-selling author of Tuscan Rose and White Gardenia. In New Orleans - the city of genteel old houses covered in Spanish moss, of seductive nightlife, of Creole, voodoo and jazz - two women separated by time and tragedy will find each other at last.

Love Caroline Lee....But....
Revisado: 08-24-22
Love Carine Lee but she was a terrible choice to do a New Orleans Creole/ Southern accent! The horribly and incorrectly pronounced words just made me grit mt teeth!
The story was a bit predictable and very LONG...I ended skipping quite a good amount towards the end with the endless description of the Katrina debacle. Wish I had that credit back.

Historia
From the moment Lucy met her husband's mother, Diana, she was kept at arm's length. Diana was exquisitely polite and properly friendly, but Lucy knew she was not what Diana envisioned. That was five years ago. Now, Diana is dead, a suicide note found near her body. Diana claims she no longer wanted to live because of a battle with cancer. But the autopsy finds no cancer. The autopsy does find traces of poison and evidence of suffocation.

Revisado: 01-18-22
I don't know what I was thinking......more drama, more intrigue, more anything really. The ending was predictable and just left me completely unsatisfied. Just a waste of 9 hours.

Yep, the apples never fall far from the trees
Revisado: 12-13-21
First off, Caroline Lee is just the best. I have listened to a huge number of her books and she never fails in her delivery.
I really wanted to like this especially after the dismal 9 perfect strangers. I just felt that Ms Moriarty had a hard time wrapping this one up...it started out pretty good but the middle just got a bit muddled and the ending just floundered......bringing in the covid nonsense was not helpful, just odd, a weird attempt to be current??
I wanted to love it because of the tennis, as I love tennis and don't often get a good novel with tennis almost as a character....could have been better.
I will have to wait a bit before jumping on the next Liane Moriarty book...twice burned and all!

Historia
You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, and because of this unconventional arrangement, you can see your husband only one day a week. But you love him so much you don’t care. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself. But one day, while you’re doing laundry, you find a scrap of paper in his pocket—an appointment reminder for a woman named Hannah, and you just know it’s another of the wives.

It had potential............
Revisado: 04-06-20
The first few chapters were pretty interesting, but becomes just stupid. Don't waste your time or credit. The use of mental illness is not worthy of a plot line. If I could only get the time back! Ugh.

Historia
Sometimes you meet people who are out of this world, so you make them a part of yours. A one-night stand born from vengeance in a foreign land. An explosive chemistry neither of us could deny. We signed a contract on the back of a Boar’s Head Pub napkin that said if we ever met again, we would drop everything and be together. Eight years and thousands of miles later, he’s here. In New York. And he’s America’s music obsession.

Revisado: 01-09-20
It started out interesting enough but the ending was so sappy, with the WORST dialogue ever....The "sex" seemed like the author needed to fill the pages with words...certainly could have lightened up on it.....as well as the language...really, there are other words in our language. I am certainly not a prude but it seems the story was not better for the sex or the raw language. Whatever........

I thought the story was going to be better at the start. The Italian accents were just terrible.
