Historia
A Gallup study found that 50 percent of resigning employees did so "to get away from their manager". The ones who don't quit become disengaged, creating a negative work environment costing US companies billions in lost productivity, each year. Leaders in the 21st century need to understand that technical skills are not enough to be an effective manager. They need to able to demonstrate tactical empathy to create a more productive environment.

Helped me get a better grasp on empathy.
Revisado: 07-19-20
Derek Gaunt picks up where Chris Voss's Never Split the Difference leaves off. It does reiterate the approach of Black Swan Group with the addition of going in-depth on explaining empathy. Derek does so from the viewpoint of servant leadership. The book has helped my greatly and I appreciate the work the author put in to explain how 'hostage negotiation leadership' can be applied to the work and family life. It's funny how these simple concepts are so often misunderstood and forgotten or undervalued. And to those who wrote negatively critical reviews, I wonder if we read the same book?

Historia
In this book, which the author calls a "culmination of 30 years of work in the history of ideas", Sowell attempts to explain the ideological difference between liberals and conservatives as a disagreement over the moral potential inherent in nature. Those who see that potential as limited prefer to constrain governmental authority, he argues. They feel that reform is difficult and often dangerous, and put their faith in family, custom, law, and traditional institutions.

absolutely love Thomas Sowell's work. Just wish the production quality was updated. Sowell's work helps explain the foundational differences between those who believe "the ends justify the means" and those who don't. He doesn't stigmatize the left but rather labors to show both perspectives rationally. Outstanding work.

Historia
Why do only a few people get to say "I love my job?" It seems unfair that finding fulfillment at work is like winning a lottery; that only a few lucky ones get to feel valued by their organizations, to feel like they belong. Imagine a world where almost everyone wakes up inspired to go to work, feels trusted and valued during the day, then returns home feeling fulfilled. This is not a crazy, idealized notion. Today, in many successful organizations, great leaders are creating environments in which people naturally work together to do remarkable things.

Historia
Hayek gives the main arguments for the free-market case and presents his manifesto on the "errors of socialism." Hayek argues that socialism has, from its origins, been mistaken on factual, and even on logical, grounds and that its repeated failures in the many different practical applications of socialist ideas that this century has witnessed were the direct outcome of these errors. He labels as the "fatal conceit" the idea that "man is able to shape the world around him according to his wishes."

Evolutionary progress ?
Revisado: 03-21-15
the author is not at all a conservative though many might clasify him one simply because he is critical of socialism. However he believes that society is an athiest and a nihilist. Good is subjective, there are no absolute truths except that there is no absolute truth, he follows closely logical postiviism, that teaches there is nothing beyond the physical. His critism of socializm is that one person cannot force his dictates on another as in one group (legislators) cannot force their model for "society." While I certainly agree with this point, the author doesn't give the 'why' the aristocrats can't force their notions on society.
I imageine Carl Rove and William F Buckley and other R.I.N.O.s agreeing with the author, who himself comes across very much conceited.

Historia
The Law was originally published as a pamphlet in French in 1850 by Frederic Bastiat. It is his most famous work and was written two years after the third French Revolution of 1848. It defines, through development, a just system of laws and then demonstrates how such law facilitates a free society. Bastiat was a French classical liberal theorist, political economist, and member of the French assembly.
