Historia
With Expecting Better, award-winning economist Emily Oster spotted a need in the pregnancy market for advice that gave women the information they needed to make the best decision for their own pregnancies. By digging into the data, Oster found that much of the conventional pregnancy wisdom was wrong. In Cribsheet, she now tackles an even great challenge: decision-making in the early years of parenting.

Must-read for all moms-to-be
Revisado: 05-16-22
Phenomenal book. Helped me feel very informed and empowered during my first (surprise) pregnancy. Amidst ALL the "helpful" well-intentioned advice coming at you from all sides (usually based on personal experiences, myths, and guesses), this was my guide to tell fact from fiction and make the right decisions based on actual quality research and data.

Historia
Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

Wow. What a ride
Revisado: 05-18-20
This is the most infuriating, visceral book I've ever read. The author makes you feel every emotion, every pain and confusion, along with her as she tells her story. The fact that it is a true story is even more heartbreaking. You root for little (and grown) Tara all along the story and are tremendously relieved when she finds the courage and strength to stand up for herself and do what is right.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Great content, mediocre voice over at best
Revisado: 02-10-20
I understand that the voices are of language teachers, and they are not meant to be perfect actors, but their reading of the dialogs and even their own conversation (which I assume is supposed to sound natural) is so fake that it was get through. The content is good, but the forced laughs and flat jokes really make it difficult to focus. Other versions and levels of this language series were much more natural and pleasant to listen to.
