Profanity laced and too boring to finish

I hated to do this. This is the first book I could not finish. Story line is so choppy, way too drawn out and not needed and profanity is WAY too much. You could not get through 1 minute without a whole lot of profanity. I get it, it’s the military but still this is overkill. I’ve listened to a lot of military books both fiction and non fiction and never have I had to deal with that much profanity. It’s almost like the author went for a world record on how much profanity he could use.

It’s average but get the abridged version

Wayyyyyyyyy to drawn out. Do yourself a favor and if you want this book find the abridged version. I forced myself to finish it but man it’s too long and painful. I typically like unabridged versions because I like the details but this was painful. Easily could knock off 3 to 4 hours and you would not lose anything.

Not what I typically listen to but SO GLAD I did!!

I was hooked within the first 10 minutes!! I took a chance on this one as it’s not typically what I like to listen to. It is so unbelievably well written it makes a lot of other books look silly. You need to listen to this book is one you will not regret.

You will be submerged quickly in this story

I hated it has to end!! It is one I will go back and listen to again. The characters are well thought out and their personalities are clear throughout the entire book. I’m so glad I stumbled on to this series. Well worth it

Fantastic from start to finish

This is the only Nora Roberts novel I’ve ever listened to or read. The story line as well as the characters are fantastic and I would highly recommend the book. The only down side is there’s a bit more language in the book than I like but in the end it’s one I will come back and listed to again.

Had promise but it’s meh at best

This review is for both books. After finishing the first one I though ok let’s see where this goes. After finishing both books it was average at best. Way too many characters and very little character development. There are a few of course that go a little deeper but that’s it. There are several you want to know more about but it never dives into it. The ending turns out to be somewhat predictable. Overall I would not waste time on these two books. Had promise but landed flat.

Great page turner

I only listened to this book because it was a prequel to a book in the Harry Bosh series. I went back and forth but decided to give it a try and I am glad I did. Great book and it’s one I would highly recommend if you like murder mysteries

Not so much a Harry Bosch novel

The story is pretty good, but the story is about half Bosch. It is one of those splits and it was ok but not the typical Bosch book. The quality of the audio recording is pretty bad but you can get used to it after a while.

I’ve read all the Lee child novels and they never disappoint. From a listening perspective you can’t top Scott Brick. Can’t wait for the next one.

Background music the entire time

Great book, but the fact that they have background music and random sound effects throughout the entire book is distracting. You really have to get used to it and it takes away from the book. The story is great but the fact it’s got music the whole time is a bad idea. Clearly no one asked any one before they decided to do this.
