Good but could be better
Revisado: 12-20-22
I really like this audio book for its dictation. The readers’ voice is clear and the fluctuation in their voice keeps your attention and when a conversation is taking place versus when the story is being told. There’s a slight difference in the story teller’s voice and the voices used when there’s a conversation.
However, I gave it 1 out of 5 stars because this audio book could be a lot better if a pdf of the book accompanied this audio book purchase. I think this is a crucial feature for language learners. The author is selling the written copy separately for $15 or the cost of a Kindle subscription. It somewhat angers me to have to pay for the same book twice when it is an easy and inexpensive accommodation from the author to his listeners who have already paid for this audible copy. It would only seem to make sense that as a language learning product that a written script of the stories are provided with this purchase. Without having a pdf to read along with, every Spanish word can seem to run together. Listening without understanding gets old fast. A written script is a complementary resource for learning a language by audio. It can be used to study the audio and increase listening comprehension.
1. Reading along with the audio helps the listener to be able to train the ear to distinguish the separation of words.
2. It will ensure that the listener isn’t missing words and can follow the conversation.
3. It would also help the listener to learn word stress. 4. Seeing the congregation of verbs would help with the study of word tenses.
5. Having written text would assist with learning sentence structure.
6. The list of vocabulary words after each story would be more helpful if it was written. Seeing the spelling of a word only helps with retention. If you can see the word literally or figuratively (in your mind), one can work out pronounciation. Pronunciation is more difficult by sound alone. Plus not all words from the story are listed as a vocabulary word. If a written pdf was provided, one could use it to study any word of the story.
Without a written script I find myself re-playing 10-15 seconds multiple time to write down how I think the word is spelled based solely on sound, so that I can study it.
I can’t comment on the story itself because my understanding is minimal but based on the English summary of the stories they sound mature and interesting.
Scott Beckett provide your listeners with the pdf of the book.

Dialogue in single voice
Revisado: 11-28-22
I really wanted to like this and have it be useful. I got this to improve on my listening and comprehension skills. The speakers accent is clear and he is speaking in a natural-slow pace. Not too slow where the audio drags. I found the problem to be that the dialogue is in a single male voice and it’s hard to pick up on whether the reader is telling a story or when he is having a conversation. It’s difficult to follow the conversation as to who reader is having a dialog with or notice pauses, starting and stopping points of the dialogue.

The narrator makes this very difficult to listen to. I literally turned it off less than a minute of listening. I can tell the content is valuable but it’s torture to listen to. Choose a different narrator.
