Historia
October, 2042: In two weeks, the world will die, murdered by a nine-mile-wide, extinction-level asteroid. And Robert Osmark - billionaire and savvy tech genius - couldn't be readier for the fiery apocalypse. Unlike the shortsighted masses, he’s been diligently preparing for this day from the moment the asteroid first appeared. Decent book with one of the least likable MCs ever
Revisado: 04-28-21
It's been a good long while since I've listened to a book during which I've thought to myself "Wow, I hope this douchebag gets killed. He's fucking terrible." but S.R. Witt and James Hunter have created a well fleshed out world in which Robert Osmark needs to be shot out of a goddamned cannon. I suppose if you've got a serious case of CEO hero worship you'll love this, but it's VERY easy to root against the MC. He's an arrogant know-it-all with an inflated sense of self-importance that sets my teeth on edge. So I suppose that in reference to creating a true to life CEO character, they've done fine work. It's just too bad I've never met a CEO that didn't need to be kicked repeatedly in the junk. Maybe this is an instance of realizing that an actor that plays a villain really, really well is just being good at his job. I don't know. Either way, unless Robert Osmark becomes a little more likable, there's no chance in hell that I'll be buying a sequel to this.

Historia
In this revelatory, authoritative portrait of Donald J. Trump and the toxic family that made him, Mary L. Trump, a trained clinical psychologist and Donald’s only niece, shines a bright light on the dark history of their family in order to explain how her uncle became the man who now threatens the world’s health, economic security, and social fabric.

Wow. Fred Trump was a bastard.
Revisado: 07-15-20
I am utterly blown away. And the biggest thing I took from this is that Mary and Fritz should throw caution to the wind, break into that dumb box in the ground, and go spread Freddie's ashes in Montauk. That seemed like Fred's (and Donald's, by matter of association) final and greatest insult in Freddie's life.
I think we all knew Donald was a menace at this stage of the game, sadly. I hope at least a few of the Fox News crowd buys this, because it does explain a lot of his screwier behaviors, and I hope the man gets tested for Alzheimer's, because those propensities can be hereditary. #takefreddiebacktoMontauk

In The Land: Predators, the Mist Village has harnessed its power. With core buildings, professional fighters, and now their own dungeon, the settlement is primed to grow into a kingdom of true power and magic. The path to power has not been without risk, however. The MistVillage has been noticed. Evil nobles from the Kingdom of Law, bloodthirsty goblins from the Serrated Mountains, an undead lord with a penchant for human sacrifice, and fanatical kobolds from the Depths all plot the village's destruction.

The story is good, if a bit on the damned long side. Nick Podehl is the bomb, as always. Jokes are a bit on the immature side, but it could be worse.

So this book reads like a MUD session. (And yes, I'm showing my age with that statement, since MUDs were what the internet was before the internet had pictures). Fortunately, this does not detract from the pacing of the story at all, and in some ways actually adds to it. It's interesting seeing the stat progression that the main character goes through over the course of his adventure, and the relationships between him and the other characters in the book are honestly compelling.

Historia
A thrilling genre-bending saga about six extraordinary people whose fates become intertwined on an Earth far different from their own. Without warning, the world comes to an end for Hannah and Amanda Given. The sky looms frigid white. The electricity falters. Airplanes everywhere crash to the ground. But the Givens are saved by mysterious strangers, three fearsome and beautiful beings who force a plain silver bracelet onto each sister' s wrist. Within moments, the sky comes down in a crushing sheet of light and everything around them is gone.

Einstein would have loved this series!
Revisado: 11-13-17
So yeah, normally time travel stories are kind of fraught with complication, and this one falls into the same category. Thankfully, Daniel Price does a great job of navigating the loops and swoops that keeping track of temporal weirdness can provide, and provides one hell of a yarn in the process. This is a little on the long side, but you'll find yourself raptly listening, and 25 hours goes damned fast.

Historia
Much has been lost in the conflict with the Fae king and his allies, a conflict we hadn't known we were in until one of our own fell at his hand. And while a great Seal between realms may have been rebuilt, dark things slipped through in the chaos, creatures who would overrun this world. Our allies are many. Our enemies are terrible. And someone ate my last chimichanga despite the fact I had clearly marked it with a note that said it was mine.

Revisado: 11-13-17
The Vesik series has been so surprisingly good. I love this type of supernatural fiction, and honestly, how often do you read a series about a benevolent necromancer? The narrator for this series (William Dufris) makes Vesik come to life, and he does a great job of sucking a person into the action. I can't recommend this series enough.

Once again, a great installment
Revisado: 11-13-17
This series has been so consistently decent it's not even funny. I love the dynamic that Mr. Conroe has created between his characters, and this series totally scratches my superhero itch, even though the characters aren't your conventional superheroes. I have yet to be disappointed with this series, and James Patrick Cronin is one hell of a great narrator as well.

After their world collapsed in a sheet of white light, everything and everyone was gone - except for Hannah and Amanda Given. Saved from destruction by three fearsome and powerful beings, the Given sisters found themselves on a strange new Earth where restaurants move through the air like flying saucers and the fabric of time is manipulated by common household appliances. There, they were joined by four other survivors. The sisters and their companions began a cross-country journey to find the one man who could save them.

Overall a good story. Some questionable details..
Revisado: 11-13-17
All in all, I enjoyed this story quite a bit. It was a good followup to Flight of the Silvers, but it's going to be more than a little frustrating waiting a couple of years for the next installment of this to come out. At some point later, I plan on going through the book and marking up the questions that I had regarding details on various powers, especially those used by the Pelletier family.

Historia
As a child, Chris Hooper dreamed of monsters. But in deep space, he found only darkness and isolation. Then, on planet LV178, he and his fellow miners discovered a storm-scoured, sand-blasted hell - and trimonite, the hardest material known to man. When a shuttle crashes into the mining ship Marion, the miners learn that there was more than trimonite deep in the caverns. There was evil, hibernating and waiting for suitable prey.

Wow, what a surprising freebie!
Revisado: 11-13-17
So as this was a free promotional title from Audible for their 20th anniversary, I wasn't expecting much at all. Wow, was that notion quickly adjusted. This, frankly, was one of the best productions that I have heard. And it was an honest to God production, and not just a reading, which was completely unexpected. This was an all-star cast, and frankly, it would be amazing to see this made into some sort of a short film. Hell, even as an animated feature, this would be amazing to see on the screen. Fifty thumbs up!
