Historia
Miryem is the daughter and granddaughter of moneylenders, but her father's inability to collect his debts has left his family on the edge of poverty - until Miryem takes matters into her own hands. Hardening her heart, the young woman sets out to claim what is owed and soon gains a reputation for being able to turn silver into gold. When an ill-advised boast draws the attention of the king of the Staryk - grim fey creatures who seem more ice than flesh - Miryem's fate, and that of two kingdoms, will be forever altered.

Everything I dreamed and more
Revisado: 08-06-18
I expected great things from Naomi Novik based on how much I enjoyed Uprooted. I was not disappointed. I would say I even enjoyed this one more. Such a rich world with complex characters and of course the strong women who will do their own saving, thank you very much. Spectacular book which I see going on my high re-read list.

Mother and warrior. Scholar and spy. Rebel and hero. Set in a magical world of terror and wonder, this novel is a deeply felt epic of courage and war, in which the fates of these characters intertwine - and where ordinary people become heroes, and their lives become legend.

All the POVs
Revisado: 11-01-17
Loved this. It's an interesting universe he's created and I am a huge fan of all the different POVs. Love getting all the angles in a story that way. It really forces you to re-examine any bias you might have toward one character or another. Took a bit to figure everything out, but that's generally the case for me with epic fantasy since it's always a huge new world with crazy names to learn. I plan on going through it again soon while it's still fresh so I can catch any details I missed in the beginning while I was getting used to the world. Kevin Hearne posted a map of the land on his page that made it much easier for me to keep track of things. I am absolutely in love with the way the powers work in this world. Cannot wait to hear more. Luke Daniels is amazing as always. I docked performance by one star because Xe Sands was good, but not great. Her characters all sounded the same to me and that made it a little harder to follow on her chapters. Overall the performance was still above average.

Historia
George Webber, a first-time author, writes a book that makes frequent references to his home town of Libya Hill. The book is a success, except in Libya Hill, where the residents believe that it paints an extremely distorted portrait of their town. They send Webber menacing letters, including death threats.

Terrible Audio Quality
Revisado: 01-23-17
I love Thomas Wolfe and this a a good story but this version is abridged and the audio quality is terrible. It has that crackling noise in the background and it's painful to listen to.

Historia
Even when finding oneself engaged in interstellar war, good form must be observed. Our story is set thousands of years after the Terran Exodus, where two powerful, planet-dominating families - the elegant House Jakabitus and the less refined Hahn Empire - have reached a critical point in their generations-long war. Master Hennik, the Hahn ruler's only son, has been captured, and the disposition of his internment may represent a last and welcome chance for peace.

A welcome surprise
Revisado: 12-11-15
I wasn't sure what to expect from this when I read the reviews. I really enjoyed the Magic 2.0 series and Luke Daniels is the most amazing narrator in the universe so I decided to give it a shot. As expected, it did start off a bit slow and confusing but WOW did it get hilarious later on. Absolutely worth sticking out the first bit and honestly I think that will be great upon a second read through.

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

It's Joffry, not Jeffry!!!!!!!!
Revisado: 11-04-13
What made the experience of listening to A Game of Thrones the most enjoyable?
It's an amazing series and I love that now I can "read" it and crochet at the same time!
Did Roy Dotrice do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
His inconsistency with saying the names correctly is killing me. He may say Joffrey and then Jeffrey within the same 20 seconds, I docked it a star for that because it's really that annoying and it gets worse as you progress through the series. Other than that he does a pretty good job, I can't say I agree 100% on his characterization choices but you can easily discern the change in speakers during the dialogue.
