Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Outstanding!
Revisado: 12-29-23
I would have definitely enjoyed another hour or so of this book. So often you read a story that brushes over hardship and swoops in with some amazing happy ending. This story doesn't sell you any fairytales. The tale is heart-wrenching, and if you have not seen a version of this tale in real-life, you would easily imagine this story is based on someone's nightmare.

As with any series that has spanned this long, some books are better than others and then there's books like this one - phenomenal... AND the bonus scene made it perfect!

Thanks for sharing your story ❤️
Grief... is something that we can all relate to on some level, but it is definitely something that needs to be discussed more often. Thank you for putting out there what I think and feel so often... After my eldest son was ripped from our lives, everything was different. Now, I spend my days trying to find a way to live a normal life without him, and regardless of what I do, I still feel alone.

Pretty good for a short story
Revisado: 03-04-23
Although reminiscent of a BDB vampire this seems to be a complete stand-alone not associated with the series.
Those of us who read BDB and are familiar with Ward's vampires will find this an easy entertaining read with no need for a backstory. Others should enjoy it as well and may find it an interesting introduction to Ward's world.
Because of the nature of short stories, I find it hard to ever rate them more than 3.5 stars, but with this being an audible it gets an overall of 4.

Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Standing Ovation 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Revisado: 09-19-22
Abso-freaking-lutely Phenomenal!
I am an avid reader and although I have gravitated away from audio books I definitely prefer the self-narrated autobiographies to the books.
Viola's story is a must read, as it offers inspiration to the common person/woman. I listened to Michelle Obama's & Cicley Tyson's story and although they were both inspiring and both suffered from levels of social & economic struggle, Viola's touches upon a type of deprivation that many Americans have to find a way to escape. The level of trauma sounds shocking, but is real for too many. She touches upon those secrets too many of us have been hiding, and proves that we can not only survive but thrive.

Historia
Just as I Am is my truth. It is me, plain and unvarnished, with the glitter and garland set aside. Here, I am indeed Cicely, the actress who has been blessed to grace the stage and screen for six decades. Yet I am also the church girl who once rarely spoke a word. I am the teenager who sought solace in the verses of the old hymn for which this book is named. I am a daughter and mother, a sister, and a friend. I am an observer of human nature and the dreamer of audacious dreams.

An icon shares her innards in the most eloquent way. Her resilience is an absolute inspiration and her refusal to be anything that wasn't true to who she was leaves me in awe. Her genuine heart make me yearn for a time long gone.

Regardless of how disheartening the information provide was Daniel kept to his theme of not playing the victim. Although many of the most courageous people lost their lives in the battle for sovereignty and although there are many disparities plaguing the community they have and continue to survive.

Chosen from birth to usher in a new era, Poppy’s life has never been her own. The life of the Maiden is solitary. Never to be touched. Never to be looked upon. Never to be spoken to. Never to experience pleasure. Waiting for the day of her Ascension, she would rather be with the guards, fighting back the evil that took her family, than preparing to be found worthy by the gods. But the choice has never been hers.

Surprisingly good from the beginning!
Revisado: 05-29-21
I the first book of most stories you have to go through the painstakingly slow/ boring experience of the author building the world. This story is masterfully crafted to have you engaged relatively from the start.
