Historia
Structured in three parts, each recounting a new expedition, there are some long-awaited answers here, to be sure, but also more questions, and profound new surprises. Absolution is a brilliant, beautiful, and ever-terrifying plunge into unique and fertile literary territory. It is the final word on one of the most provocative and popular speculative fiction series of our time.

Is he the greatest American voice actor? Gotta be. Another triumph. Another laurel. Another feather in this actor’s cap.

Historia
The year is 1949, the city London. Amidst the smog of the capital stumbles Dennis Knuckleyard, a hapless eighteen year-old employed by a second-hand bookshop. One day, on an errand to acquire books for sale, Dennis discovers a novel that simply does not exist. It is a fictitious book, a figment from another novel. Yet it is physically there in his hands. How? Dennis has stumbled on a book from the Great When, a magical version of London beyond time and space, where reality blurs with fiction and concepts such as Crime and Poetry are incarnated as wondrous, terrible beings.

Might feel a little turgid to begin with. Push on through. You’ll get used to the style and be amply rewarded.

Historia
Glen Runciter runs a lucrative business - deploying his teams of anti-psychics to corporate clients who want privacy and security from psychic spies. But when he and his top team are ambushed by a rival, he is gravely injured and placed in "half-life," a dreamlike state of suspended animation. Soon, though, the surviving members of the team begin experiencing some strange phenomena, such as Runciter's face appearing on coins and the world seeming to move backward in time.

Great Book That Deserves a Better Reader
Revisado: 07-11-24
This book is a real corker. The reader’s (or the producer’s?) characterization choices are over-the-top cartoonish. The reader also mispronounces a few fairly common words. Doesn’t anyone care about this stuff?

Historia
Behold the orphan. Born into a world that is not a world. A digital being grown from a mind seed, a genderless cybernetic citizen in a vast network of probes, satellites, and servers knitting the Solar System into one scape, from the outer planets to the fiery surface of the Sun. Since the Introdus in the 21st century, humanity has reconfigured itself drastically. Most chose immortality, joining the polises to become conscious software.

The Pits
Revisado: 06-28-24
This is a pretend particle physics textbook with 1/2 a science fiction short story peppered throughout. The reader opts for a Milhouse-esque petulant child voice for several characters for what reason is anybody’s guess.

Historia
In 525 BC, the Persian king Cambyses sent 50,000 soldiers across the conquered Egyptian desert to take an oasis city not far from where the Libyan border stands today. According to Greek history, a hurricane-force sandstorm struck near the end of their 600-mile trek. The army - all 50,000 men - vanished without a single trace. Fast forward to 1986. A British archaeological team, sent to the edge of the Great Sand Sea to exhume evidence of the incident, has also gone missing.

Bad narrator. Maybe the worst English accent I’ve ever heard. Lousy editing. Lousy writing too. Fun plot and story marred by all the other things that count.

Very little story. A great deal of recapitulation of the motivations of characters with which we are all familiar. It’s a provocative universe, but the author has evidently run out of ideas for it. Pity.
