Historia
Two-time Edgar Award-winner Rupert Holmes, author of the critically acclaimed Where the Truth Lies and creator of the Tony Award-winning musical whodunit The Mystery of Edwin Drood, now fuses gripping suspense and evocative music in an innovative novel of intrigue set in 1940, during the very heart of the Big Band era.

The music will make you want high quality audio to match the high quality mystery.
A minor nit is that I'd like for the narrator to slow down a bit; leave some pauses for dramatic enhancement, but that's not even enough to cost a star.
I hope we see more multimedia novels of this quality. The somgs are a part of the story, not just extra production.

Historia
Nothing in Cree's experience as a Harvard-trained clinical psychologist or as a paranormal investigator has prepared her for Tommy Keeday's case. A talented young Navajo, Tommy has recently been exhibiting bizarre symptoms that his family believes are signs of possession by a chindi, a hostile spirit. As Cree struggles to find answers, she becomes increasingly aware that Tommy and the people who surround him have some deep and disturbing secrets.

Not equal to City of Masks, but OK
Revisado: 07-13-05
I felt this was not well plotted. It was hard to stay focused as the plot seemed to wander a bit while the author tried to work out the details. I loved City of Masks, and Land of Echoes was allright so I'll certainly grab the next Cree Black book I see, but I wish this had been better written and better edited.
Even so, it was worth the download.

Historia
Daniel Hecht has created a plausible, heart-stopping ghost thriller. Relying on the science of parapsychology to spine-tingling effect, he brings to life a remarkably compelling character in Cree Black, as well as the ghosts she confronts.

A promising start to a new series
Revisado: 07-13-05
Engaging characters, and an interesting plot. I look forward to more Cree Black. I did find it frustrating that there seems to be a lot going on "behind the scenes" so to speak. Ed and Joyce need to be fully developed and the back story better explained. It read more like a middle-of-the-series book rather than first-in-a-series.

Historia
You couldn't really tell about Mama's brain just from looking at her, but it was obvious as soon as she spoke. She had a high voice, like a little girl's, and she only knew 23 words. I know this for a fact, because we kept a list of the things Mama said tacked to the inside of the kitchen cabinet. Most of the words were common ones, like good and more and hot, but there was one word only my mother said, soof.

Exquisitely written; perfectly read

I've had "So B. It" on my wish list for months, based simply on the intriguing description. Now I am only sorry I didn't get it sooner just so I could tell more people how wonderful it is. The story is almost magical in its beauty and the narration only enhances that beauty. According to other sources this is a book written for young people, ages 9-12, but I have grandchildren older than that! This is a story written for all ages. I normally choose audiobooks of epic length, often in the mystery or thriller categories, or non-fiction in a variety of fields, but "So B. It" could equally be classified as mystery, thriller, chick-lit or self-improvement, not to mention children's literature. Truly a story for all ages, to be read over and over again. Soof!
This is destined to be a classic. Sarah Weeks, more, please!
