Historia
The son of Chinese immigrants in Washington, DC, Edward Wong grew up among family secrets. His father toiled in Chinese restaurants and rarely spoke of his native land or his years in the People’s Liberation Army under Mao. Yook Kearn Wong came of age during the Japanese occupation in World War II and the Communist revolution, when he fell under the spell of Mao’s promise of a powerful China. His astonishing journey as a soldier took him from Manchuria during the Korean War to Xinjiang on the Central Asian frontier.

Two tales of change
Revisado: 07-08-24
Incredible intertwining of two stories of living in and leaving China. A father falling out of love with his youthful ideals, amd his son learning why that may have happened first hand and through stories.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Hang in there...it makes sense eventually!
Revisado: 08-22-22
The first hour is admittedly slow...but stick with it. all becomes clear as you follow Grace on his unlikely adventure. The audio book is really a strong medium to really explore communicating in this story's world. Fantastic story, great haply ending, super cool approach and strong audio performance

Forest Gump of Leadership and the GWOT
Revisado: 08-25-19
Loved this book, read by the author, capturing both the professionalism and humor of the SOF, his own growth, and the events he led and participated in across the last half century. Highly recommend for all future officers!

Historia
The 2020 Commission Report on the North Korean Nuclear Attacks Against the United States is an exciting piece of "speculative fiction." The novel posits that there was a nuclear attack against the US on March 21, 2020 by North Korea, and that a national bipartisan commission was created to investigate what and how it happened. It's pretty scary stuff.

Disturbingly plausible, What Ifs are always open.
Revisado: 02-25-19
If you like Arms Control Wonk, this fiction story from the podcast founder is sure to satisfy. Read well with steady voice acting that didnt mock or drop to impersonation of Trump. Freaky story the was disturbingly plausible, somewhat predictable (as it would be for most ACW listeners) but supremely enjoyable. I appreciated the build up, starting with an accident and ending with

WTNV fans rejoice!
Revisado: 11-20-17
Cecil was great as always and the plot tied nicely, this is a vastly improved sophomore performance! Characters were easy to keep track of, old and new, and had many of the unique quirks you would expect of this small desert town.
