Loaded with action and occasional tension, these are great thrillers that exude energy. Implausible at times? Yes but it keeps the reader involved from start to finish. Fantastic reader.

Good story, great performance.
Revisado: 04-29-20
Independence Day is thrilling, loaded with action, and a fun listen with the usual quality performance by Peter Hermann. Our hero Dewey is his usual bull in a china shop, take no prisoners bad ass. He does, for the first time in this series, take a back seat in parts of the story and occasionally get lost in the flow of the story from time to time. He contributes as only Dewey can but would like to see more of his heroics interspersed throughout the pulsating tale especially as the action reaches the pinnacle at book’s end. But outside of the lessening, at times, of his participation in key moments, the book does not suffer or disappoint and we are rewarded with the slam bang finish we expect from the continuing books in this series. Enjoy.

But he is about to face his deadliest challenge yet. The endings are abrupt yet feel incomplete.
Revisado: 04-04-20
Good story, characters introduced in a sufficient manner, and the reader appears knowledgeable and interested in his subject. Accurate, believable, and a tight approximation on reality makes this a worthy listen. But, the endings. They appear as quickly as a tornado and then proceed to blow right through the climax. I would preach that as an after action report is necessary for Delta it should also be front and center for your readers. We all look forward to the next book but should not have to be multi chapters in to the next book to discover what happen after the terrorist died, what interactions would our hero have with law enforcement and then the return to base for the recognition that he surely deserves. Don’t be stingy in your summation, bring your reader into the arena that indentifies who goes where and when and what happens to the players that have spent so much time in our collective psyche.

Historia
George Washington's Farewell Address was a prophetic letter from a "parting friend" to his fellow citizens about the forces he feared could destroy our democracy: hyper-partisanship, excessive debt, and foreign wars. Once celebrated as civic scripture, more widely reprinted than the Declaration of Independence, the Farewell Address is now almost forgotten. Its message remains starkly relevant. In Washington's Farewell, John Avlon offers a stunning portrait of our first president and his battle to save America from self-destruction.

Nothing but platitudes to John Avlon for producing a scholarly and thoroughly enjoyable book detailing the effort and results of Washington’s farewell address. The dots are all connected here and when finished the reader will appreciate the knowledge provided and the wonderful return on the investment of time. Highly recommended.

Historia
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

Enjoy good action/thrillers with American heroes who have been given second chances or drawn in by attachments to events. I expect a few tweaks as the series moves along but overall a productive entrance into this type of genre.

Revisado: 02-25-20
Don't miss listening to this series because of the prior reviews!! I took the chance and enjoyed the whole series!!! I guess if you are Scottish or Irish you'd take some issue with the reader's accents but I found NOTHING wrong with the reader and the accent sounded normal to me!! I love listening to time-travel romances and this series kept me engaged in the story the whole time. I have just finished the second series and am getting ready to look for a third!

Revisado: 11-23-19
This story cheats you out of an actual interesting plot. I kept waiting for the punch but it never came. it was predictable and if I weren't listening while keeping busy, it put me to sleep. I usually love Grisham novels and this one fell flat.

Historia
Though he barely escaped expulsion from West Point, John Bell Hood quickly rose through the ranks of the Confederate army. With bold leadership in the battles of Gaines' Mill and Antietam, Hood won favor with Confederate president Jefferson Davis. But his fortunes in war took a tragic turn when he assumed command of the Confederate Army of Tennessee. After the fall of Atlanta, Hood marched his troops north in an attempt to draw Union army general William T. Sherman from his devastating "March to the Sea." But the ploy proved ruinous for the South.

A great read and now a fantastic listen.
Revisado: 11-07-19
If this is your first introduction to the Wiley Sword Classic then I hope you enjoyed the story and the narration. Very well done in both the written and spoken version, Last Hurrah was a thoroughly researched and assembled story. Mr. Sword painted a masterpiece by description and vividly portrays the horrors of Franklin and Nashville. He wraps up the saga as few Civil War history writers can do and fortunately for the readers/listeners, we are able to benefit from his literary gift. Enjoy.

Historia
Fresh off his first mission back with the CIA, Court Gentry secures what seems like a cut-and-dried contract job: A group of expats in Paris hires him to kidnap the mistress of Syrian dictator Ahmed Azzam to get intel that could destabilize Azzam's regime. Court delivers Bianca Medina to the rebels, but his job doesn't end there. She soon reveals that she has given birth to a son, the only heir to Azzam's rule - and a potent threat to the Syrian president's powerful wife. Now, to get Bianca's cooperation, Court must bring her son out of Syria alive.

Hey, it’s the gray man. So everything must be ok right?
Revisado: 09-23-19
Classic Greaney/Gray man novel. Longer read/listen but all the usual subplots, details, and descriptive imagery. A little tedious at times but fits the pattern of out hero perfectly. The ending? No spoilers but definite irritation that after 500 plus pages the last few chapters appeared rushed. It almost seemed as if Greaney discovered that the story had lingered a little too long and he decided to wrap it and head to bed. In the end our virtuous icon once again saves the day. Jay Snyder is the best reader I’ve ever listened too. His articulation, pitch, and enunciation were top of the class as usual. I’ve now read or listened to all the series books. Look forward to more action in the future if Mr. Greaney continues the series.

Historia
Authors Mark Edward Lender and Garry Wheeler Stone argue that in political terms, the Battle of Monmouth constituted a pivotal moment in the War for Independence. Drawing on a wide range of historical sources—many never before used, including archaeological evidence—Lender and Stone disentangle the true story of Monmouth and provide the most complete and accurate account of the battle, including both American and British perspectives.

And then came the defense of Charles Lee.
Revisado: 08-26-19
The authors emphasize their research throughout the book and I do not doubt that is true. However their investigation of details seems to promote recollections, memories, and context that only fit their purpose and discredit the correspondence and writings of many who had actually participated in the events. It is their absolute principled right to do so. However much I disagree with many of their conclusions in the book I nonetheless recommend that interested parties read and examine for themselves. Douglas Pratt gives an emphatic performance and draws interest to every event in the book. Well done.
