Sweet and soulful, illuminating memoir

Listened and finished all in one day, I could not stop playing the book for long. Brought me to tears many times. I felt the exhilaration of her teenage friendship, then courtship and marriage to the most talented, prolific, and audacious rock star the world has known. The devastating losses and pain she went through will make you weep, and the update on her life since their split and his death makes you feel happy for her that she has moved on with such grace and strength, she is very inspiring and hopeful. What a bright light in the world Mayte embodies.

I personally loved that the author narrated in her own voice, you can almost hear the twinkle in her eye. I loved her humor, candor, and authenticity. Loved her travel stories and her passion for the language. I found it delightfully nerdy and engrossing!

My favorite musician writes a memoir

I loved it, I feel so much resonance with her and her words. I have followed her career since I was a teenager and now feel so lucky and grateful to have the opportunity to hear about her experiences in her own words. I am sure I will listen to it again and again and get even more out of it each time. I look forward to gaining more of a musical education by following her mentioned influences and mentors. Her shows have so much joy and richness built in, and now I have even more context in which to enjoy her music.

Mysterious and spectral story

Wonderful ghost story told from a woman's perspective, and the ghost's! Great tale of the strength women must embody in a world among men. Good actors with different accents and sounds, like listening to a play rather than just a narrator. Enjoyed it very much, thank you!
