Tedious
Revisado: 04-27-25
I love ironic humor, but I just found this annoying. The jokes are cliché the delivery is something that I might enjoy if I were deeply inebriated but for the most part I found myself unimpressed.

The perfect neighborhood can be the perfect place to hide… Who wouldn’t want to live in Brighton Hills? This exclusive community on the Oregon coast is the perfect mix of luxury and natural beauty. Stunning houses nestle beneath mighty Douglas firs, and lush backyards roll down to the lakefront. It’s the kind of place where neighbors look out for one another. Sometimes a little too closely…

Couldn't listen due to the reader
Revisado: 01-03-24
I suffer from a degree of misophonia, and the reader's shrill voice, coupled with her mispronunciation of words ending in "ing" made this book insufferable to me. I gave up after several attempts to listen.

Very dull
Revisado: 01-03-24
This is the kind of story you have to be expecting, to enjoy. I was expecting a "time travel story," because that was how it is presented. In reality it is a Japanese-style soap opera. If that's what you expect, you'll enjoy the relationships and stories of people.
I never finished it, partly because I got tired of the tedious relations and the irregular "ba-ding-dong" where the reader performs the sound of the doorbell when a character enters or leaves the cafe.
Not for me. Obviously other people appreciate it.

Not bad for a first work. If this is a first book
Revisado: 07-28-23
This comes off as a highschoolers attempt to incorporate all of the elements from scream, Freddy Krueger, pumpkin head, etc. etc. all of the cliché horror movies of the 90s in a attempt to create a story that includes people as characters there he grew up with. all in all, it's good not great.

Enjoyable, if preachy
Revisado: 06-15-23
Overall, I enjoyed the story. It's fun there are some great one-liners and comebacks. The plot is fairly interesting and as something to listen to while working with my hands it provided entertainment that I needed.
What I didn't need was to see what the future of pronouning is like. I really hope that this fad of non-binary pronouns and afear of misidentifying someones claimed gender goes away quickly. I honestly found it not only confusing, but insulting.
The service dog was an interesting character, but the constant reminders of the pain that the main character feels was overdone. As a character development trait, the fact that both main characters are in constant pain was an unnecessary and repetitive distraction.

Can't take it.
Revisado: 12-05-22
I would have hoped that one of the core requirements to be a reader for an audiobook be that you pronounce the words correctly. I cannot listen to this person. The story isn't very interesting to begin with. But the reader is too slow and mispronounces words. e.g. "tie-end" instead of "tightened."

Not the funny Terry Pratchett story I was expecting
Revisado: 08-22-18
This is more of a historical fiction book, with an interesting storyline and some funny bits, rather than the typical outlandish Terry Pratchett fun Discworld type. I was disappointed because the description said that this was a funny book, but it is not funny.

This is the only money guide you'll ever need. That's a bold claim, given there are already thousands of finance books on the shelves. So what makes this one different? You'll get a step-by-step formula: open this account, then do this; call this person, and say this; invest money here and not there. All with a glass of wine in your hand.

Not really for Americans
Revisado: 04-14-18
The most basic principles in this book are valid but the constant references to Australian only retirement and savings plan is useless if you do not live in Australia. You could probably reduce this to about 15 minutes of the universal concepts of paying off debt, and saving.
