Just awful!

I was looking forward to finding another mystery series to listen to, and the description of the first Alex and Hanna book sounded promising. BUT, even though I listened to the entire book, I could not find anything redeeming and certainly nothing that would make me want to read more. First, as a life-long southerner, the accent used by the narrator was atrocious, to the point of being comical at first, then terribly annoying. The pace of the narration was deadly slow (to match this awful affected southern accent?). Neither story line was very interesting (I had the first figured out in just a few pages), and if the writer intended there to be a parallel it was poorly developed. I was never so happy to finish and delete a book!

I really wanted a new book to listen to while driving, but after 6 hours of boring, monotone descriptions and minimal story advancement, I gave up.

Wonderfully original story!!

This is the first (and so far, only) free Audible original I have downloaded, and I'm so glad I did!! Such a wonderfully original story for listeners from upper elementary to adults. The story has the perfect combination of magic, music, misfits, and mystery. The addition of the musical numbers (both well-known pieces and the original pieces written just for this book) add another layer to the listening experience, adding just the right mood. I only hope there will be a sequel!!
