This is an essential book for any literature fan, who hoped to bridge the gap between homer and Shakespeare, and become more familiar with the references that nearly all writers in the western tradition touch upon. So much more than just people turning into flowers or trees.

Simon Vance does a spectacular job . This book gave me a Bridge to all of Elizabethan literature and a much better understanding of the Old Testament. I rank Paradise Lost up there with the Iliad, the odyssey, and all of Shakespeare.

This is a quick read, never overly technical and paints Oh and endearing picture of a brilliant and somewhat naïve man. It is laugh out loud funny and it shows you what a person can do in a short life if one stays busy.

Misleading title - stratfordian apologist

Sad Stratfordian clone who can’t get off the authorship debate and can’t admit there is any debate at all. The “library” title comically masks the obvious theme that everyone who doubts the Stratford man is reprehensibly illogical. And that every empty inference that supports the Stratford candidate should be compelling even to the most delusional “heretic”.

The first step in dealing with one’s Stratfordian fanaticism is to admit that the debate is real.

Sadly, Kells cannot.

Still an interesting text with some updates about the debate, though it is all made suspect by his…. Issues.
