Historia
Forty years ago Israeli psychologists Daniel Kahneman and Amos Tversky wrote a series of breathtakingly original studies undoing our assumptions about the decision-making process. Their papers showed the ways in which the human mind erred systematically when forced to make judgments about uncertain situations. Their work created the field of behavioral economics, revolutionized Big Data studies, advanced evidence-based medicine, led to a new approach to government regulation, and made Michael Lewis' work possible.

Historia
In The Accidental Superpower, international strategist Peter Zeihan examines how geography, combined with demography and energy independence, will pave the way for one of the great turning points in history, and one in which America reasserts its global dominance. No other country has a greater network of internal waterways, a greater command of deepwater navigation, or a firmer hold on industrialization technologies than America.

Historia
When Russian President Valeri Volodin's ambitions are foiled in Dagestan, he faces a difficult choice. The oligarchs who support him expect a constant flow of graft, but with energy prices cratering, the Russian economy sputters to a virtual halt. Unable to grow the Russian market at home, his hold on power relies on expansion abroad—a plan that has been thwarted by the United States in the past. But this time Volodin has determined that an indirect approach is the best.

Historia
Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race”, a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of Black women and men - bodies exploited through slavery and segregation and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a Black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son.

I have had a different life experience
Revisado: 02-09-16
Is there anything you would change about this book?
No, it reflects one persons experience, and interpretation of that experience. I am not in a position to judge or change his experience, interpretation, or story.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The narrative was well written, and the time went by quickly. I enjoyed hearing about his experience, though his experience is very different from mine growing up in poor areas but in the Northwest and largely rural communities. I don't want to read or hear "my black body" again anytime soon.
What does Ta-Nehisi Coates bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Perhaps his emphasis as the author on words or phrases that would be difficult to duplicate for even a professional reader.
Did Between the World and Me inspire you to do anything?
Yes, have empathy and greater understanding for people growing up in trauma rich urban environments that bring out the best and worst in people.
Any additional comments?
Evidence is clear, if we grow up in trauma rich environments our brain development and behaviors are impacted - likely for life. It takes special training to identify and learn to cope in a less traumatized way to life's ongoing experiences. I don't know how to solve the problem for people growing up in these types of neighborhoods. I wish I did.
