Historia
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

It was a good story but the author could have cut out an hour of the stand-ins doubting. It was overkill!

Historia
It’s customary for Gothic romance novels to include a mysterious girl locked in the attic. Hannah Smith just wishes she wasn’t that girl. As a narcoleptic and the companion to an earl’s daughter with a strange affliction of her own, Hannah knows she’s lucky to have a roof over her head and food in her belly when so many orphans starve on the streets. Yet freedom is something Hannah longs for. She did not, however, want her freedom to arrive in the form of kidnapping.

Another great series by CJ Archer
Revisado: 07-19-24
This book by CJ Archer had me from the start. The narrator was also very good. Those two facts have me sold to buy the series. This will be the 5th series I’ve bought by CJ Archer. :)

Paint your toes. Pick up the wrong coffee and bagel order. Drive from Brooklyn to Jersey in traffic so slow you want to tear your hair out. It’s amazing all the useless things I can accomplish while on hold for three hours with customer service. Three hours when I should be getting the Date-in-a-Box website ready to launch at the big business expo in a few days. Except my shiny new website is glitching, and my inner rage-monster is ready to scorch some earth...when he finally picks up. Not the robot voice I expected but a real live human named Kal.

Good feeling - great narration
Revisado: 07-05-24
This audible was absolutely amazing I fell in love with both the characters. I usually avoid Romances but I decided to listen to something light today and this book was exactly what I needed. The book was great and the narrators were great too! P.S. I rarely write reviews if ever, but this book gave me such a good feeling, I had to praise it.

Historia
Mrs. Grace Humiston was an amazing lawyer and a traveling detective during a time when no women were practicing those professions. She focused on solving cases no one else wanted and advocating for innocents. One of her greatest accomplishments was solving the cold case of a missing 18-year-old girl, Ruth Cruger. Her work changed how the country viewed the problem of missing girls, but it came with a price: she learned all too well what happens when one woman upstages the entire NYPD.

Grace - extraordinary woman
Revisado: 09-03-23
At first I thought it would be along the lines of Sherlock Holmes but quickly realized I was listening to biography of an extraordinary woman who worked her whole life to save missing girls and about the white slavers who still exist today. I’m glad I bought the book.

Historia
When the lifeless body of crime journalist Tom Pinder is fished out of the river near Jack's barge, it seems that the hardened old drinker may just have had one too many... and accidentally slipped to a watery death. But Pinder's young colleague doesn't buy that explanation, and asks Jack and Sarah to investigate. As they dig deep into the stories that Pinder was working on, Jack and Sarah soon discover that he had made some very dangerous enemies prepared to stop at nothing to keep a dangerous truth buried.

Historia
In the early 1970s, while trying to wind down the war in Vietnam, President Richard Nixon made overtures to Moscow and Beijing that would usher in a new era of the Cold War: Detente. But the thaw in relations didn’t last long - the Iran Hostage Crisis and Soviet invasion of Afghanistan set the old adversaries against each other once again. Throughout the Eighties, President Reagan took a hard line against the “Evil Empire,” ramping up military spending and rhetoric, and Americans were once again tense with nuclear anxiety. Until suddenly, it all changed.

A long Cold War
Revisado: 05-14-21
I listened to the entire series in one sitting so I will comment on the series as a whole. Being a Veteran of the Air Force, I served from 1977-1985. We were told we were the Cold War veterans which meant because we did not serve in a war involving combat that we were not entitled to some benefits. I guess what I’m trying to say is, we thought the Cold War started at the end of Vietnam until the beginning of Iraqi Freedom. I learned a lot from this series about when and what the Cold War really encompassed.

Historia
Data is fundamental to the modern world. From economic development, to healthcare, to education and public policy, we rely on numbers to allocate resources and make crucial decisions. But because so much data fails to take into account gender, treating men as the default and women as atypical, bias and discrimination are baked into our systems. And women pay tremendous costs for this bias in time, money, and often with their lives. Celebrated feminist advocate Caroline Criado Perez investigates the shocking root cause of gender inequality and research in Invisible Women.

Listen to the whole book as a student.
Revisado: 11-03-19
Listen to the whole book as a student of sociology. Be objective in your thinking until you finish the book. I am not a feminist. I am a conservative middle class grandmother who has worked her entire life, served in the military, married, college educated and raised two children. I have seen a lot in my lifetime and I encourage books that are well written and touch on society’s reality.

Lovely story but for constant notifications of “he said, she said...”
I loved the story. If the author could have the book edited to remove the hundreds of “...said” after every comment, it would be a five star book.

Historia
In 1912, at the height of World War I, brilliant Shakespeare expert Elizebeth Smith went to work for an eccentric tycoon on his estate outside Chicago. The tycoon had close ties to the US government, and he soon asked Elizebeth to apply her language skills to an exciting new venture: code breaking. There she met the man who would become her husband, groundbreaking cryptologist William Friedman. Though she and Friedman are in many ways the Adam and Eve of the NSA, Elizebeth's story, incredibly, has never been told.

The life of Elizebeth Friedman was an amazing life along with that of her husband William Friedman. Their secret life and love brought me to tears near the end of the book.
Thank you for writing this book. I am a female Air Force veteran who worked in telecommunications handling highly classified and sensitive messages. To imagine I now know the story of the creators behind my job.
