Historia
This lush novel, set in 1766 England and America, evokes an era ripe with riot and revolution, from the teeming streets of London to the sprawling grounds of a Virginia plantation. Mack McAsh burns with the desire to escape his life of slavery in Scottish coal mines while Lizzie Hallim is desperate to shed a life of sheltered subjugation to her spineless husband. United in America, their only chance for freedom lies beyond the Western frontier - if they're brave enough to take it.

Enjoyable
Revisado: 09-12-16
I enjoyed the story and broad scope of the characters experience. I did feel like I knew the story already but I couldn't say whether I'd read it before, saw a movie or it was not an original plot. Enjoyable nonetheless.
The one thing that annoyed me was the narrator's voice sinking into frequently inaudible whispers, and I'd miss an entire phrase or sentence ending.

Enjoying the story, not caring for the naration...
Revisado: 09-21-15
What would have made 30 Pieces of Silver better?
A different narrator.
There is no consistent volume or tempo to the reading, words are mispronounced, and it sounds like there is a speech impediment. There is no recognition of separate paragraphs. It's all verrry distracting from the story, which itself is pretty good.
What did you like best about this story?
The theological wonderings.
Would you be willing to try another one of Don Hoeksema’s performances?
Not really.

Historia
Uncle Tom is a high-minded, devoutly Christian black slave in an "humane" Southern family, the Shelbys. But, when the Shelbys are beset by financial difficulties, Tom is sold to a heartless slave trader. Hailed by Tolstoy as "one of the greatest productions of the human mind," this story describes Uncle Tom's trials, suffering, and religious fortitude.

Poor quality recording
Revisado: 10-23-09
As a story, Uncle Toms Cabin stands on its own as a classic must-read.
As an audio book the quality of the recording is very poor, scratchy and tinny sounding with an echo in the background. It's bad enough to forego the listening and pick up the paperback.

Historia
Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more (except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdalan) and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

The most fun I've had in a looong time!
Revisado: 09-18-09
Having a Catholic background, I thought, "Mom would not approve of my reading this book", but I went ahead anyway.
This story is not the least religiously offensive, (but it does have a bit of foul language)and is instead thought provoking and considerate, while being hilariously funny.
I highly recommend this book for those of you who can appreciate a good story, written with humor and insight. Trust me - it will not smear or crush your religious beliefs.
