More Inspirational/Religious than Chick Lit

It's not that it is bad (although I keep falling asleep listening to it) but this book is misnomered as chick lit. It should be filed first under inspirational or reliigious - then maybe chick lit. It'll probably win over a lot of inspirational / religious folks but I personally like my chick lit to be a bit more chicky.

Very good listen all around!

I'm always please to see an unabridged book added to the library. I was hesitant about this one though, as its author was potentially published due to celebrity instead of talent. However, this book was well narrated and well written. In fact, I would listen to a sequel. Except for a few over the top liberal rants & raves that were a little too political for a romantic comedy (even one about D.C. staffers!) I give this book TWO THUMBS UP.

It may be difficult to imagine a life-affirming book which begins with the main character, a 14-year-old girl, recounting her rape and murder, but Alice Sebold's debut novel is just such a book. Having received advance critical acclaim that before now was reserved only for literary giants, this book will no doubt invite comparisons to works such as Tracy Chevalier's The Girl with the Pearl Earring and Toni Morrison's Beloved.

good book i guess but it's very spooky and eerie

i didn't expect it to be so spooky and eerie. the book freaks me out. it is not what i thought it would be. i am having to get another book to listen to at night. this one will have to be listened to in broad day light - not while i'm falling asleep.
