I have high expectations of Abigail Hilton's stories, and she has met them once again. This adult story set in the Incubus world, long before the events of Incubus Caged, follows one incident in the lives of characters introduced in Incubus Bonded. Despite their personal conflicts, Lucy and Jacob investigate when a man acquires the ability to use magic and starts building a temple to a new god. Listen to the excellent narration, and enjoy a little fantasy and romance!

I couldn't believe it was over already!

The tale follows two Hunters Unlucky characters, Sauny and Valla, as they track a missing foal and discuss an important decision regarding their future. The listener is drawn right back into the Hunters world and the changes wrought by the events in that story.

Rish's narration is perfect as always.

Also as always, I add a caution for parents listening with children. Although this tale is not explicit in its mention of violence or procreation, the topics are discussed, and parents should listen first to ensure that their children will be comfortable with this animal tale.

An alternate-world erotic fantasy with compelling characters; I don't want to say any more lest I spoil something! It is well narrated; I rarely enjoy listening to erotic scenes, but Lauren's reading does them justice. I look forward to book two!

Panamindorah never fails to satisfy! This installment begins with continuing Gerard and Silveo's story from the end of Cowry Catchers until they are caught up in the adventures of the Albatross's crew -- or vice versa. The characters are as engaging as always and the world continues to grow.
The narration also works wonderfully. Lauren and Rish match each other's character accents very well, and there were even times when I thought Norm had popped in to voice Silveo.
Well done, everyone!

When We Were Young is a further collection of short stories from the world of Panamindorah. Each story fleshes out the past of at least one of the characters from the Guild of the Cowry Catchers or from the new Refugees series while adding details to the already fully realized world Hilton has created. The stories stand on their own without needing to have read the previous works, but, as always with these short stories, they add to the characterizations and are a treat for those who are already familiar with this world. I listened over the course of two long car rides and found them entertaining so that the drives flew by. This is a fantasy series, and I recommend, as always, that adults listen to the material first and consider the maturity if any young person who will also be listening.
The stories are narrated by Rish Outfield, Lauren Harris, and Renee Chambliss, all excellent readers who have already worked with these characters.

The story of Panamindorah continues in this wonderful tale of an airship's crew, both officers and slaves, coping with the changes that follow the successful dissemination of Gwain's treatise. Full of Hilton's standard compelling characters and plot, this is a fantasy story both for those who already love this world and for newcomers. The alternating narrators do an excellent job of making the multiple characters distinct.
Enjoy!

Storm has a difficult childhood as a low-ranking member of a conquered animal species. His determination to survive the deprivations that follow from being undersized and a half-orphan who has to struggle to find food give him the strength and ability to fight back when their conquerors target him after he escapes a cull. This simple act of self-preservation is viewed as a rebellion in the making, and leads Storm on a journey that introduces him to many other species, both friend and enemy, and reveals secrets from the past his island’s past. These changes and his new knowledge result in shifting alliances and the possibility of a better future for both his species and all of the island’s inhabitants. Hunters Unlucky is a well-written and wonderfully narrated fantasy with themes of acceptance, prejudice, and ecology. It is suitable for all ages, with the caveat that parents should listen with their younger children; while the fighting and killing are not gratuitous, parents should be sure that their children understand about predators and prey.

This collection of four short stories continues to flesh out the world of Panamindorah. Each story features at least one character from the Guild of the Cowry Catchers series, adding background and details to events alluded to in the books. The detailed fantasy world and its characters continue to delight, and it is wonderful to discover these background stories relating to favourite characters from the series, and to learn more about the world in which they live.

Prophet of Panamindorah follows an amnesiac teen in foster care who finds a way into an alternate reality filled with complex characters with a rich history in a fully realized world. The plot moves quickly and involves shifting loyalties and allegiances. I found it necessary to listen to the story when I could give it my full attention because the number of characters and locations and ever-changing relationships required concentration to keep straight, but these only made the story better.
